Eternal Imoen for Baldur's Gate II Extended Edition Version 5 A Ron Joyal Project Contents 1. Introduction 2. Installation 3. General Information 4. Frequently Asked Questions 5. Credits 6. Legal Information ---------------- 1. Introduction ---------------- In BG2EE, the Imoen you start with, modify, and play through Chateau Irenicus is not the Imoen you hook up with in Spellhold. This is very annoying. This mod carries the Imoen you start with into Spellhold with the standard XP upgrade on rejoining. ---------------- 2. Installation ---------------- Eternal Imoen should be installed after Imoen Romance v2.4/2.5/v3.0, as it modifies Imoen Romance to accomodate the shift of Imoens in Chateau Irenicus. Make sure that Baldur's Gate II or ANY game-related utilities are not running. To install the mod, unpack the archive into your BG2EE directory and run Setup-EternalImoen.exe. Once you see the Readme, the installation is complete. To reinstall or uninstall the mod, run Setup-EternalImoen.exe in your game directory. ----------------------- 3. General Information ----------------------- This should be compatible with all post-Chateau Irenicus mods. The problem with mods that alter stuff inside CI is that the Imoen in CI is now Imoen2 (DV). This mod does not introduce any new dialogue or interactions. This mod differs from the Lord Mirrabbo in the following ways: 1 - BG2EE creates both Imoen (IMOEN10) and Imoen2 (IMOEN211) just before you enter the game. Instead of monkeying around with creating my own Imoen while getting rid of the other two, I get rid of Imoen and move Imoen2 (modified to look like Imoen) from Spellhold into Chateau Irenicus. 2 - At the exit from CI, I just move Imoen2 back where she came from, with minor modifications to ensure that she is NOT treated like a new character while still receiving some of the TLC afforded a new NPC. There is this one thing: you have to initiate that first dialogue in Spellhold, as she will not. I don't see that as a real problem, it being the natural thing to do anyway. If you encounter any problems, please contact me a nullset@sympatico.ca and I will do what I can to address the issue. Oh, yes. The file eternalimoen.xxx will be placed in the Override folder to test for the presence of this mod, should you feel the need. ------------------------------ 4. Frequently Asked Questions ------------------------------ Q: I am a modder and I want to steal your code. A: Since I stole a large chunk of this from Lord Mirrabbo, it would be silly of me to object to the same treatment. Steal away! ----------- 5. Credits ----------- Ron Joyal Writer Programmer This is a rework of the code by Lord Mirrabbo for his Imoen Romance v1.202 mod. Without his mod as a guide, this would never have happened. More importantly, while the code is mine, the concepts and techniques used by Lord Mirrabbo are what make the whole thing work. I stand on the shoulders of giants!
