Hypothetically Speaking.

Oddsbodskins

So, hypothetically speaking, if a person, let's call them Oddsbodskins, for sake of argument, were to install the Amber mod, create a character, play to the make-or-break friendship/romance talk, realise they forgot to make sure that character had the minimum stats, and give up. Then make another character, with the necessary stats, but forget to make sure there was no-one else romancable in the party, and wind up realising Jaheira was getting the wrong impression, and Amber was backing off, and starting over. Then playing for a while and realising he specialised a character in longswords, and he prefers katanas, and starting over. Then remembering why pure classes bore him, and going back to the game with Jaheira.

If he did all that, kicked Jaheira from the party, got in Anomen and carried on, would the Amber romance start up again?

Not that I did, I was just asking because, well, someone who'd make that many mistakes, well they wouldn't know too much about how these things work, and they might need to know, save them starting again or something.

Amber has a tricky conversation mid-game, where she basically tells you that you should stay friends, and it's rather difficult to persuade her otherwise, even if you do have the necessary requirements. So a new game may not essentially help. I'd just continue a Jaheira game and set Amber's romance M#AmberRomanceActive to 1 - Amber does have an awful lot of variables, but her script blocks are conventionally organized, so you'll be okay.

Hypothetically speaking.

(edit: but, yeah, you'll have to dump Jaheira)

Okay, sounds more or less sorted, except, ah, assume one more stroke of misknowledge, how would one go about setting Amber's romance M#?

I play games and use computers, beyond that I tend to look slightly bemused and occasionally lie: 'oh i get it now'

You're not an experienced console user? Better not start now, then - I know it has taken much from my enjoyment of the game.

I'd go berelinde's way, then.

{i}Dan Simpson's walkthrough at sorcerers.net has all the instructions about activating the console and such, but if you're not normally using it, I wouldn't advise you to, and wouldn't post it here, either.{/i}
