Lemernis
I hadn't paid attention to what version of DirectX I have until just the other day. I see that I can now upgrade from v.9.0c to v.10 I'm running WinXP. Are there any known issues using DirectX 10 for the BG series? DirectX 10 http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/About.../DirectX10.aspx Note: You can check what version of DirectX you're running via Start > Run > type "dxdiag" Link to comment
Lemernis
Actually, looking more closely at it, it's not clear to me if DirectX 10 is for Vista, exclusively, and whether my video card is designed for it. I'm running WinXP with a NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GXT card, so I might not be able to take advantage of DirectX 10 anyway... Link to comment
the bigg
The GeForce 7xxx are DX9.0c only (DX10 cards are the GeForce 8xxx and Radeon X2xxx), and DX10 is Vista only. Not that it'd matter, since BG2 falls automatically back to DX8 (IIRC). Link to comment
Lemernis
Ah well. v.10 sure looks nice though. Link to comment
CoM_Solaufein
DX10 would only look that great on 3D DX10 games. A 2D game like BG would not show any of it's awesome effects. Link to comment
Lemernis
Righto. I meant DX10 games look impressive--and unfortunately I don't have an OS or video card that will run DX10. If I were going to upgrade DX for 3D games, I was wondering would there be a problem with the BG series. Link to comment
Avenger
As long as you use XP you are safe from dx10 Link to comment
