Help - BG2 is seriously lagging

Hi!

 

Instead of walking my pc/NPCs are jumping an inch per picture... Normally they would walk ... normal, I have a new laptop so the hardware shouldn't be the problem. I tested with a loaded easytutugame, but that runs smooth...

 

I did a quick search on "lagging" and a hit told me, that the Override folder could get too filled up - if you know what I mean... Could this really be my problem?

Do you have lots of stuff in bags of holding and other containers? Try Dropping everything and see if that clears it up.

I tried with a little effect, but still it's choppy.

Did that also; footstepsounds, accleration and so on. ATM I'm trying another build with slightly less mods to see if that's my problem.

Yes, I've found that I rapidly reach "critical mass" when I install mods. Installing Saerileth and Amber at the same time is a short trip to lagville. Either alone seems to be fine, but together, they're more than my poor system can take. Now, I tend to just install the actual mods I'm going to play *that game* and start over from scratch when I want to play a new game with a different combo.

A new laptop? It wouldn't happen to have Vista as an OS? Vista isn't that friendly with a lot of older games and software.

No I got myself a good old XP version. Lucky me, I don't wan't to be betatesting for Bill himself

 

A final update on my laggingproblems: After I cleaned out in the modnumbers the game now runs smooth as silk.
