Er, I know this is Noobermeet, and anything goes, but maybe it's too early in the morning to debate religion.

Well, to be honest, I was hoping people would discuss the hypocrisy surrounding the free speech issue, and not the religious aspect. Religious debates never seem to turn out well.

Well there is no free speech aspect I can discern. Is anybody actually hindering them to market the game? Bad publicity elsewhere is not equal to denying somebody freedom of speech. What can be said about the media landscape in some countries is that fringe groups sometimes have a hard time to be heard, but that's not the same in my book.

 

Actually instead you should be terrified on a daily basis that it has been possible for a western government to suspend habeas corpus.

Hey they're the ones who don't follow their own philosophy. Their religion started out with good intentions but over the centuries it has been butchered, misrepresented and corrupted by its so called followers. Love thy neighbor, turn the other check, peace, be kind to others and many other tenets that they do not follow. In other words they don’t practice what they preach. I could go on, but there’s no need to go off topic any more than what it is.

I guess not. So another game in the jungle won't disturb anybody. Is it for the good of the christian faith? Well, talk to your God and find out. Mostly you'll find that she is above such trivial day-to-day meddling. It is your effort that counts. Now I have some Orcs to slay, cmorgan are you coming. :-D

I think that the thing about the game is that disturbs people is the developer that is connected with dominionist Christians - I've heard a lot of scary things about these guys - some of them on the site of a blogger that written about that game and claims to be a former member of that group.

 

I think that a game made for entertainment by a normal developer is one thing and a game made by an exteremist hategroup is another. It's kinda like seeing a game made by neo-nazis.

I find that such games only preach to the choir, so no harm done. Neonazis don't scare me, its everyday racism of the good citizen that gives me the creeps. Has anybody played that game yet? The other angle would be that you could only lure the children, if you don't completely suck as a piper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pied_Piper_of_Hamelin).
