Amber dumped me...

I was having fun romancing Amber, as I've only ever done her friendship track before. We got to romance active 2 and a little while after that I headed off to rescue Imoen. However, as soon as we get to Brynnlaw the romance goes to 3 without any lovetalks where I might have screwed up...as far as I know. I've tried to reset it back to 2 but as soon as I load the game it immediately goes to 3 again. What on earth have I done, and how can I fix it??

How do you post the weidu log? I've never tried to post a file before. I think the last talk we had was the morning after they slept together. In the 'other romances' department, I've got a bunch of globals at either 3 or 1, she was the only one at 2 though. I checked and none of the others had changed. Most of those globals are for folks that I haven't even run into yet like Saerileth or aren't compatable, like Edwin. I think the only one she might have conflict with is Jaheira or possibly Imoen, but I hadn't run into Imoen yet when she changed the romance to 3. I assumed Jaheira would swithch off to 3 when I 'got serious' with Amber, but she acted like she didn't notice. That was before we left for Brynnlaw. I checked Jaheira and she's also still at 1. There should be a document in your game folder named WEIDU, where you can copy and paste the text. (I hope I said that right)

 

I made sure Jaheira knew there was nothing but friendship between us before Brynnlaw, and it worked well enough for me. Amber didn't have much to say besides the comment of the pirates. She only spoke up in Spellhold when the PC feels the effects of the curse, and after Saemon has left, which she is supposed to do, I assume.

Yeah, weidu.log is in the main BG2 folder, you can open it in any text editor and copy paste it's contents here.

 

There's no way you can directly end up with RomanceActive 3 from the morning after talk, not even if your PC chooses the 'get up and leave' -option. Your PC has to make it up for Amber if he does that, though. Via click-talk or when Amber demands an explanation. However, the RomanceActive stays 1 untill the issue has been sorted out, one way or another.

 

Weidu.log can be helpfull here. From it, I can see what other mods you have installed.

You won't be able to post your weidu.log directly as an attachment, because .log extensions aren't allowed. You will be able to post its contents, however.

 

Open your game directory and find a file named weidu.log. If you're using Windows, rightclick on the file and choose "Open with" then select Notepad from the list of programs. From there, you can copy the contents of the file and paste them into a message window.

I'm almost sure that this is the source of the problem. There's a block in Amber's script that will end the romance when the multiromance script has activated the bio NPCs' romances multiple times. If it didn't do that there would be lag and/or stutter. I recommend that you read the component descriptions of the mods you plan to install beforehand.

 

This the description of the romance cheats component from the readme of the Tweakpack:

Romance Cheats (Sabre, Richardson, Weimer)

Non-Tutu

This component allows greater flexibility with the original BioWare romances. Please note that the multi-romance option may cause stuttering when used in conjunction with a third-party mod romance. The player can choose five paramters:

 

* No gender requirements (i.e. Aerie romances females)

* No racial requirements (i.e. Anomen will romance a half-orc)

* Multiple romances

* Nothing kills romance (requires multiple romances)

* Start romances for new games in ToB

 

These should provide 24 different variants of the romance options (12 for non-ToB games). The 'Start romances for new games in ToB' option is based, in part, upon the NPC Flirt Pack's version of same (and used with permission), but will also work in conjunction with the removal of gender and racial requirements and multiple romances. If all you're looking for is to start romances for new ToB games, use the Flirt Packs instead, as they provide a much more expansive treatment.

Alright. Is saving this game still a possibility at all, if I uninstall that part of the tweaks? Or, maybe uninstall that and the multiplayer components both? Or just resign myself to having tweaked it to death...

Uninstall the romance cheats -component. Then set Jahera's, Viconia's and Aerie's romance actives to 3 (even if they are not all in your party) and Amber's to 2. That should allow you to continue Amber's romance, assuming that the romance active is the only Amber related variable that you have tried to set.

 

If I were you I would first uninstall the mods installed after tweak pack (starting from the one that were installed last) and install them back in the original order after I had uninstalled the romance cheats -component. In that light you probably don't want to dig your way all the way to Amber's multiplayer friendly flirts -component. All that does is that Amber's flirts do not pause the game. If that doesn't bother you don't need to uninstall it.
