Error while installing

Hey guys,

 

I decided to try install the widescreen mod and unfortunatley when i try to install it i get this error:

 

CRC failed in widescreen\weidu-202-23.exe

Unexpected end of archive

 

Am i doing something wrong?

Works for me. It is likely that the download is corrupt, try downloading again. The MD5 for widescreen-v0.8.exe is 69d551e0ff05c3af267ea4da2e1ebd75, if you know how to check it.

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunatley i tried re-downloading it numerous times =(.

 

Do i have to save the file to a specific folder?

 

Also, i am not sure if this means anything but after i get the error, i still get a widescreen mod folder.

CRC errors usually mean a corrupted download. Try downloading the mod in .zip format to see if it was a troublesome upload. Once extracted to your game directory, run setup-widescreen.bat to install the mod.

 

What operating system are you running? Are you extracting the mod by double clicking the exe, using WinRAR, etc.?

I am running Vista 32 bit..

 

I have tried double clicking the EXE, i am going to try downloading it in .zip format and going from there. I have WinRAR so i will try that.

Ok, i tried downloading the .zip file and i am either doing something wrong or i am just unlucky. (Basically i dont think i know what i am doing)

 

Once i download it the widescreen.zip screen comes up with the Widescreen folder and the batch file. When i run the batch file the command screen comes up and askes me if i want to read the readme. I press N and it continues. Then it asks me if i want to install so i press "I"

 

And then an error comes up. It tells me my game is not supported and then "Stopping installation"

 

One more thing though.. Now when i go to the widescreen folder from the zip file i downloaded and hit the EXE, i get something i haven't gotten before. I get a DOS screen with a list of "general input options" and a choice to hit enter for more options.. Is this the actual working mod? And if it is, how do i change my games resolution?

The EXE inside the widescreen folder shouldn't be executed directly by players, it is called by the .bat with the appropriate settings (in this case, asking you to display the readme etc.).

Telling people that you don't read readmes is not the best way to keep them amicable - after all, I spent some hours writing that, so the least you should do is read it, since they might contain the answer to your problem. This time, I'll cut you some slack and simply ask what game it doesn't install over, and what patches have you installed.

I am sorry you misunderstood.. i have read the readme many times before i got that batch file working. I dont want to come off as ignortant because i am not. But i have tried so many things and everytime i read the readme before trying it.

 

But like i said, i have spent hours trying to get this to work before finally downloading the zip file and getting the batch file to actually show, and by that time i have read the readme MANY times, this why i said no.

Oh sorry, i am trying to get it to work with Baldur's gate II with ToB installed and the latest patch.

Er... what is the exact error message? are you using multiple installs? Can you post the contents of your setup-widescreen.debug file?

Ah, boring & stupid problem. Did you do a full install of BG2 and ToB, right?

 

Unfortunately, the BG2 installer is stupid and doesn't correctly set your CDX directories, thus potentially requiring you to insert the game disk during gameplay. Post the contents of Baldur.ini and I'll post the fixed version (easier this way).
