Question on how to structure dialogue

Hi all,

 

I'm working on an RE, and I'm writing out all the dialogues for the PC and involved NPC in the following structure in Word:

 

NPC: "..."

 

PC Option 1: "..."

 

PC Option 2: "..."

 

PC Option 3: "..."

 

PC Option 4: "..."

 

NPC Answer Option 1: "..."

 

NPC Answer Option 2: "..."

 

NPC Answer Option 3: "..."

 

NPC Answer Option 4: "..."

 

PC Answer Option 1: "..."

 

Etc.

 

I'm finding this approach of writing out dialogue to be less and less organised and easily confusing, especially when trying to work out to mayor story choices, and continuations of that particular choice.

 

I was wondering if someone can explain their methods of structuring or can provide me with a few samples?

Thanks but I'm not quite into coding yet, I just need to find a good way to keep overview of what I've written and organize it whitin a word document. How do you keep track of PC and NPC responses without turning your work into a jungle?
