With BGTutu, when I reached Khalid and Jaheira, Khalid seemed to refuse to join the party. Maybe he was content with letting Jaheira go off on her own, but I got the messages in the text window that his experience had been set to where it belonged. In the end, I CTRL+Q'd him into the group. I'm betting money on the fact I had the "Allow NPC pairs to seperate" from SCS installed is what caused this. I don't think it is. I tried an install without SCS and it still did it to me. Said something about "mysel". Also noticed something bizarre when I changed Aerie into a Cleric/Wild Mage. Something in my mod list was messing with the list of proficiencies. There was nothing in the list to choose from, only that "0" one. Link to comment

Also, if you got anything more of a message with the "mysel" it might help track things down. Sounds like a script glitch but I can't find a reference for any typo. If it does exist, it'd likely be in jaheir.dlg which is fine on my install (or _jaheir.dlg on Tutu). If someone is running into this, could you please do the following: 1) Open a command prompt (Start > Run and type 'cmd' in the field) 2) Type 'cd c:\games\bgt' or wherever your game is installed 3) Type 'weidu jaheir.dlg' 4) Attach or post the contents of jaheir.d here (which you can open in notepad or another text editor) Link to comment

On my install, these lines: ActionOverride("Khalid",ReallyForceSpellRes("fjxpmooc",Myself) JoinParty()) Appear as: ActionOverride("Khalid",ReallyForceSpellRes("fjxpmooc",Myself)) ActionOverride("khalid",JoinParty()) I don't see Level1NPCs anywhere in your WeiDU log. Am I blind? It should be somewhere near the end, or maybe you uninstalled it. Did you have the Beta7 available from here or the v1 from here? If you're not sure, open level1npcs.tp2 in a text editor and it should say in the header. [cmorgan, anyone, could you please do something about this and remove the beta7 links and substitute the v1 ones instead?] Based on this, I think this is something Nythrun fixed in v1, but it could be some other mod causing conflicts (unlikely). If you have v1, the next step will be to determine what else might be messing with the file with a 'weidu --change-log jaheir.dlg'. Link to comment

I tried to install it, but either the first component threw a hissy fit or I tried modding Aerie's class (Wild Mage/Cleric), got to the point where you assign proficiencies, discovered there were none available for me to select (And no way to end the process bar closing the window forcibly) and uninstalled it. To be honest, I think it must be the latter. The first component's essential for all the others, isn't it? I remember wondering where the hell all of Aerie's available proficiencies had gone. (I don't know if this is linked to it, but in another install with this mod I turned Khalid into a Shapeshifter/Fighter and Shapeshift:Werewolf didn't work at all. I wonder if the two issues are related, and it's a Khalid issue in general...) Also, I was using Beta 7 (According to the readme that I opened up from within the command-line file. I didn't know there was a v1 version, to be honest. Link to comment

But I guess you had no choice if there weren't any options to proceed. I seem to recall a typo in the earlier Aerie component that was fixed. The problem with closing the window like that is that it installed halfway but didn't leave a log record, therefore you can't uninstall it easily. What you can try is going into the numbered subfolders under level1npcs/backup and see if there are any files except for those starting with ARGS, MAPPINGS or READLN. Starting with the highest numbered subfolder first, move any other files into your override folder, overwriting any files that are there if it asks. Sounds hackish, but your other option is to do a full reinstall of BGT (which might be your only option if there's no backup or if you deleted level1npcs already). Once you've done that, you can delete the level1npcs folder and setup-.exe, get the v1 from the link and try that instead. I don't blame you for using the beta, because that's the one on the "official" page, but I really hope cmorgan or someone can come by and fix the links. Link to comment

Then again the "0" folder has a ton of files, so I'd assume they're nothing to do with something I've done. Anyway. I'll try your method of fixing it tomorrow and let you know how it turns out. The thing is though, I only got as far as Aerie's entry on the list. Surely I'd only need to copy Aerie's files into the Override folder... Unless of course my forced exit could have caused problems with more than just Aerie... (Although I'm still at a loss to explain why her Ogre form was given what appeared to be the "EscapeArea" command/whatever immediately after spawning. *That* was a pain in the ass the last time I played. Although, I think that might have been another time when Aerie's lack of proficiencies forced me to close the program my way) It's a good thing L1NPCs was the last mod I installed, now WeiDU's not going to throw a fit at me again and replace all CtB Candlekeep lines with ones from a Nalia romance (Long story short: It looked as if Sarevok, Gorion and Charname had a drama-filled relationship of love and angst). Would it be feasible to implement a way of cancelling changes to a character mid-operation? (As in, a way of allowing users to get out of a trap like the one I fell for without breaking it?) Miloch Posted July 22, 2008 Share Posted July 22, 2008 The 1201 folder is likely for the Aerie component. As it didn't install or make any real changes, there is nothing to restore there. The 3 folder is the important one, the component having to do with XP matching the PC's. This is what's causing the defect with Khalid joining, and also has the original jaheir.dlg and other such dlg files - very important to restore those. The 0 folder is the core component that fixes any messed up files it found. On my install, this includes all the Tutu NPCs, as they have v1 effect structures (BG1 style) when they should have v2. I'm curious as to what it would contain for a BGT install, since I thought it already used v2 EFFs for everything. In any case, restore all of this to your override since you'll be reinstalling L1NPCs anyway, so it can go through them again and log the changes properly. Once you've installed the v1 (or at least uninstalled the old version properly) we can try to troubleshoot your other problems if you're still having them. Since you have almost a "Big World" type install, it could be anything, but the same method (for example 'weidu --change-log aerie6.cre' and so on) should be able to narrow that down. Oh, don't restore the UNINSTALL files either - forgot about those. Also, I don't think there's a feasible way of allowing you to cancel a component mid-change without using a GUI, which is some time off in the future. Assuming you don't get this bug again (which should be fixed in the v1), you can end the install quite easily any time you see a 'Q' to quit, at which point it will log the changes it's done and exit. This should appear at the beginning of every new component (or NPC in this case). Link to comment
