Eliminating sound in voice recordings

So am I right in thinking that the audio in Mur'Neth, Indira, Kelsey, Keto etc (basically every NPC hosted here and at PPG) are completely free of backround noise, buzz, pops, clicks and the like?

The audio in the Luxley Family is also pretty good. :band:

It's quite helpful to make sure you've got a nicely insulated room to work in. At one point we ended up with an obvious echo, and we had to re-record several lines. It's good to shut the curtains, and record in a small room if possible.

Indeed. Hanging some fabric on walls helps, too, if you lack actual sound-absorption panels and/or bass traps. OTOH, if you want to simulate certain spaces where you want some echo/reverb, consider recording in the bathroom. No joke! :band: Good for a small cavern or tunnel sound.

Of course, these techniques apply just as well to recording instruments as they do to recording voice. Anything using a microphone, really. Experiment with different distances from the sound source to the mic, and with different angles as well. That's what audio engineers do, and sometimes you strike gold in the oddest ways.

Happy recording,

Eric
