luan
First off congrats on the release! I tried a couple installs last night of SCS v3 but ran into a few items missing descriptions. (i.e. right clicking on the item brings up a blank scroll). This occured with certain weapons, armors, and shields in my first install. Removing certain bg2tweakpack changes such as allowing thieving/casting with heavy armors rectified those instances but I imagine the conflict could still exist elsewhere. A culprit that was still at large was the +1 dagger behind the trapped painting in the first golem room in chez Irenicus doesn't even have a roll-over description! *edit1*: also to note it initially comes up already identified (no blue background) with a different icon (green tinged basic dagger). Checking my character sheet it still does give a +1 bonus to thaco. *edit2*: removing the "replace +1 with fine weapons" component of SCS seemed to circumvent this issue, but like the previous issues the problem could still exist for other items. I have a clean install of BG2 with official patches and pretty basic mods. I also tested for missing item descriptions after each mod installation and it always occurs after SCS is installed. luan
One of the components of bg2tweakpack conflicts with SCSII v3 regardless if it is installed prior or afterwards. Item descriptions are missing on certain items such as the katana, shortsword, leather armor, chain mail, etc. Perhaps it is conflicting with the "remove unrealistic items from areas" component. Will test. *edit 1*: Just tested and item descriptions were still missing *edit 2*: Removal of thieving/casting from bg2tweaks and fine weapon/+1 swap seemed to fix all item descriptions... for the golem room... Also, does it matter if bg2tweakpack is installed before or after SCS? Particularly the un-nerfed spell progression tables. DavidW
I can't reproduce this bug, sorry. It sounds a bit as if something stopped your Dialog file from updating when you installed your mods - any chance you could have had BG or an editor open when you did so? Try restoring a clean install and reinstalling. If you're still getting the problem, let me know. Link to comment
luan
I can't reproduce this bug, sorry. It sounds a bit as if something stopped your Dialog file from updating when you installed your mods - any chance you could have had BG or an editor open when you did so? Try restoring a clean install and reinstalling. If you're still getting the problem, let me know. Each installation was using a back'ed up base BG2 folder. I'll try a completely clean install from scratch and let you know. btw, BG or an editor were not open during installation. *edit*: completely clean install from the discs (not backup folder) did the trick. Not sure why or how my backup would have been corrupted but at least everything works properly now Link to comment
Guest erik
If you grabbed that backup from burned cd/dvd, you might've had read-only files - just a thought. At least a common oversight on my end when I copy things back from an old backup Link to comment
