Hi all.

I'm back to the BG world once more, after not having played it for many years.

I did play other D&D RPGs in the meantime, though, most notably PS:T and NWN.

I'm amazed at the number of high quality mods available nowadays, and I'm especially fond of Tutu/BGT.

Now I'm about to play the whole series again, starting with BG1, using EasyTutu and several mods.

I'd like to know 2 things:

1. Is my mod list and install order okay, or do I have to expect problems during the game? I'm just out of Candlekeep (intro), no problems until now.

According to the mod READMEs and this thread, it should be OK, but I'd still like to have some opinions.

2. I'd like to use improved party AI scripts. There are a lot to choose from though, and I got confused when seeing how many there are. I don't know which one I should use. Can you recommend any? And can I install them now (with this install order) or do I have to reinstall everything because they should be installed before other mods?

Thanks in advance.

Here's my Weidu.log, showing what I have installed and in what order (I don't use any non-Weidu mods):

SCS's version does a good job for me, actually, but there are two good Tutu-compatible choices out there. Either Cirrerek's or Yovaneth's work - if I install gMinion, I install eSeries. If I don't, I install Yovaneth's or simply leave out the AI scripting.

SCS's improved party AI is simple to use and does a pretty effective job, all told.

It depends what you want from it, really. SCS's AI is basically there to make your life a bit easier: it'll make halfway competent decisions on who to attack with already-equipped weapons, it'll eat goodberries and drink healing potions, and it'll cast long-duration spells when you wake up. But it won't use spells or magic items in combat. If you want something that's got a fighting chance of letting you win battles on auto-pilot, you'll need something more advanced like eSeries.

~JASTEYSBG1QUESTS/SETUP-JASTEYSBG1QUESTS.TP2~ #0 #0 // Baldur's Gate Mini-Quests and Encounters Mod by jastey (v. Beta 1.0)

jastey's just updated her mod(and corrected some bugs in v1.1), so I strongly recommend you to install v1.1 instead.

Other than that, yes, it looks good to me, except

~SETUP-SOA.TP2~ #0 #0 // The Stone of Askavar Version 1.2

I recall there was a crash in one of the "eastern" areas(the right side of the worldmap), and this mod(v1.2, too) has been a suspect. Folks, has this been tested/corrected/confirmed?

And feel free to try Finch, Gavin, Coran's friendship and Xan's friendship sometime. :band:

Are there any AI packages out there that will make a character:

1. Attack with a ranged weapon until the enemy gets close, then switch to a melee weapon

2. Do nothing until the enemy gets close if they only have a melee weapon

I've been looking at what proficiencies to give NPCs using the Level One NPCs mod, and I will probably be looking to give most of them some form of ranged attack, so that they can get off a shot or two before the enemy reaches them. My front liners will obviously then change to melee weapons once the enemy gets close.

I'd much rather not have to do this manually, though, since it'll get tedious if I use this strategy for every fight.

Alright, thanks for your input.

I will try the AI script included in SCS then. I don't want advanced scripts that play the game for me. I just want good, "smart" scripts that work well for the easy but tedious battles. Scripts that do intelligent targeting, weapon switching and things like that. Nothing like casting spells or drinking potions automatically or running too far away from the party. In harder battles I prefer to control everything myself anyway.

I downloaded a patch consisting of a few area files from the Stone of Askavar forum. The readme says that dumping them into the override folder after installing the Stone of Askavar will prevent crashes in Tutu games. As I'm currently in the middle of a BG EasyTutu run, I'll report if I encounter any crashes in those areas.
