Reflection Shield blocks Flame Arrow

As the title says, the Reflection Shield (SHLD24.ITM) blocks the Flame Arrow wizard spell (SPWI303.SPL). This is easy to reproduce, just equip the shield on a PC and have someone cast Flame Arrow on him.

 

Sigh, I suppose this is another one of those odd projectile issues.

Yep. Not sure if there's anything we can do without (sigh) new projectile (there's only one flaming arrow projectile).

It'd need an arrowfla.pro dupe assigned to flame arrow - though I'm not so comfortable changing the behavior here.

It is inconsistent though--Melf's Acid Arrow happily goes through, as does any other magically created projectiles like Minute Meteors, Energy Blades, etc.

Does Physical Mirror block Flame Arrow, Minute Meteors, Energy Blades, etc.? If it does, I vote the shield block those too.

Yes, although Physical Mirror (with a more or less identical description) does bounce Melf's, and that projectile isn't used for any non-spell created weapons.

 

Physical Mirror: reflects 16, 101, and 102 that Reflection Shield doesn't have; reflects 1 and 19 twice.

 

Reflection Shield: reflects 2, 3, 5, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 27, 28, 30, and 59 that Physical Mirror doesn't have; reflects 10 and 30 twice.

 

Since they're already both such gobbets of unused junk....
