Trouble with installing expanded thiefs guild

Recommended Posts

I have only installed SoA and ToB and the appropriate patches and then installed the BG2 fixpack. After this I tried installing the improved thiefs guild v 2.14.

When I did this it appeared to load everything but then at the end I got the following error messages:

[bG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2] PARSE ERROR at line 4 column 1-6

Near Text: README

syxtax error

[bG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2] ERROR at line 4 column 1-6

Near Text: README

Parsing.Parse_error

ERROR: parsing [bG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2] : Parsing.Parse_error

and those errors repeated 16 times.

After that in then said the mod was successfully installed.

Can someone tell me what the error might be and if it will affect the running of the mod or the game? Thank-you for your help.

It should be fine. Basically, Improved Thieves Guild is running an older version of WeiDU that doesn't understand the 'README' command in newer versions of WeiDU (which Fixpack uses). The ITG installer should have auto-updated itself to the newer version before running--are you on OS X?

No, Im running under Vista. But, the way he has the mod set up, he is running a batch file which grabs WeiDu out of a folder, so it might not be able to auto-update.

So if I renamed the setup for fixpack to the proper name for the thiefs guild mod it should install the current WeiDu?

Move weidu.exe and GBThfKp.tp2 from the GBThfKp folder to your main Baldur's Gate II folder.

Rename weidu.exe to setup-gbthfkp.exe

Rename gbthfkp.tp2 to setup-gbthfkp.tp2

I just ignored the batch file and ran setup-gbthfkp.exe

EDIT: Posted instructions for fixing the problem instead of just pointing out the problem.
