TotLM Attack Sound Bug

Hi,

I assuming this is the best place to put this but I've been having a problem with Trials of the Luremaster.

I've noticed that with it installed the attack sounds of my party sound like a creature bite, something like a wolf/dog attack sound. The weapons no longer have the correct sounds playing. There is no problem with just IWD or IWD & HoW, only ToTLM.

I've tried installing from 2 separate sets of discs, the original IWD box and separate HoW DVD case edition, plus the 3 discs that come with the IWD ultimate collection. Also I've tried TotLM from 2 separate download locations.

I haven't seen this as a listed fix in the tweakpack readme and wondered if it was a genuine bug or something only effecting me?

I asked the question over at Sorcerer's Place and no one seems to have encountered the problem.

I had previously to test what was causing the bug, using an IWD save in IWD & HoW then the same save with TotL installed. However to double check I did a completely fresh install of IWD, HoW & TotL made two fresh characters and had them whack each other with quaterstaves and the problem is still there. It sounds like a pair of wolves attacking each other.

IWD with HoW is fine and I can leave TotL uninstalled until I come to play it specifically, but it seems to be TotL thats causing the problem for me.

Its not the soundsets you pick at character creation, its the weapon attack sounds themselves. Rather than getting a sword or flail swing you get a creature sound instead. It sounds like a bite sound effect to me and although I only fought the goblins in Easthaven, they also seemed to be affected as they use axes in combat.

Last time I played the game it was on Windows ME and that would have been when TotL was released, but this time I'm on XP so I don't know if thats causing a problem or if its just a bug with TotL itself that the developers never caught?

ahh after finding out there was a iwd tweak pack i came here straight away to check if this problem was being reported.. its been like this ever since BIS released totl, from the researching i did way back when, it doesn't seem to affect everyones copy (or they don't notice it) but i might be the region the game is installed in, not sure if there are differences in the versions of each region, this happens everytime for me and its only due to totl, it replaces the weapon clanking sounds with that of a wyvern (cant remember if they are in iwd, but its the same sound they use in bg1/2) it does this for EVERY weapon in the game, even those used by monsters (including fists) i tried fixing this a few years ago but never managed to pull it off.

my version is from uk, with the original 2 disc iwd jewel case, then the original version of how, the how patch, then totl (it seems to be affecting all versions of totl ive dled) also without the how patch its still the same..

just adding my info in the hope this annoying bug can get fixed :)

also while im here ill mention something else that could get looked into, when how was added obviously they added the bg2 animations for characters and such, but they didn't add in (or didn't "activate") the "in fight" animation stance from bg2, the stance they have when character go into battle mode is the same when they are just standing around waving their heads about.. also is it possible to add in the animation for the flat non-spiked helmet from bg2 now? i haven't been involved in the modding community since teambg/forgotten wars/non-weidu "era" so i don't know whats changed in the cant be done/can be done list, but i'm going off-topic here.. i would worship all those involved if the sound bug gets sorted out. :D

This also affects my copy of IWD (US version from the ultimate collection).

All hit sounds for weapons are replaced with the gibbing sound (I think), and the miss sound effects are replaced with what sounds like a magic spell.

You can "fix" the problem by swapping the TotL executable with the v1.41 exe, but then you'll miss out on the bonus dungeon and some of v1.42's bug fixes.

so it sounds like a .exe problem? i hope that fixable.. i figured it something simple like just replacing sound files in the override..
