Xan's quest and moonblade.

Well, I've just did xan's quest. Killed the mercenaries, and saved the elf-girls slaves.

 

Did with coran, xan and kivan, the three elfs to do the "exchange slaves" ambush.

 

after the battle, the girls ask xan for protection, which I accepted promptly, finally appearing on Friendly arm's Inn.

 

Now, how do I get those 10000 eXperience Points? when do I receive? I want to ge rid of xan, but I want to get those points 1st.

 

And there's some strange thing... my moonblade is stuck in the inventory, as boo in minsc inventory and edwin's necklace.

 

the message "this item cannot be removed" appears. Don't know if this is anyhow related to the mods, but peheaps someone had alredy found a solution...

It's BG1 NPC, yes. It's the major Xan quest Domi originally devised and I coded and tweaked somewhat.

 

To get 10000, you must see to it that all three ladies are alive, and that you either allow Xan to escort them to the Friendly Arm Inn, or to go with them yourself. Xan must also be alive.

 

The "+10000XP!" (or, indeed "-10000XP", if you messed up) turns up several minutes after the quest is over and the ladies are gone.

 

I want to ge rid of xan, but I want to get those points 1st.

 

Heheheh! You're doomed - only Xan receives these points, so there.

 

By the way, I wrote a guide for Xan quest - it should be available either in your BG1NPC/Documents folder, or via the Readme here at BG1 NPC website, or both. It, too, has all the answers. So, please, read the docs next time.

You are using BGT(+Original Saga), perhaps? I've seen the issue discussed at Spellhold Studios forums(BGT) - please, ask them.

Well, that's what I really did. I wanna get rid o xan, but I want HIM to receive his points first. I've done the quest reading the walkthrough. I went with xan and the party helping the ladies get to the Friendly arm's inn.

 

So, how long is this "several minutes"? are those real time? or game time? and whe I've got to the in, I appeared there on the second floor. Where those girls went?

 

Anyway, I'll be looking for them now.

 

edit: I got back to the inn, the girl's weren't there. Well, I just want to say that I choose to follow xan and the slave-girls to somewhere safe. Automatically, the party are immediately transported to the second floor of the inn. with no sign of the ladies. Is it possible to the girls to not follow? anyway, the fact is that I choose the option that would give xan the XP point. when he receives is what eludes me.

 

Anyway, I won't post my weidu yet. I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong, and if it is a bug, then I'll post.

As I said, that's what i did. but it's not clear about "the several minutes thing".

You are using BGT(+Original Saga), perhaps? I've seen the issue discussed at Spellhold Studios forums(BGT) - please, ask them.

 

Oh, I've already found some hints and fixed this. Used NI to change a flag, cheking the flag "dropable" in the ITM refering to the moonblade. It's now all right.

The timer is 90 seconds.

 

You don't have to go looking for the girls: if you tell the girls that yes, you'll accompany them, the girls should be appearing on the second floor of the Friendly Arm Inn with you immediately, IF Xan is in the party and alive; it's fixed in his script.

 

Another alternative is sending Xan alone with them. Then you'll have to go to the second floor of the Friendly Arm inn on your own, pick him up, and, again, get the bonus 90 seconds later.

 

If you are still not getting the right finale, please, post the exact sequence of your actions.

well... I did just all of this. the only difference is that the battle was very very difficult, since I had kivan, coran and xan unarmed, and besides, they are in a very low level at this point.

 

what happened is that to win the battle, i went down a little, in order to the fog of war to cover the mercenaries. I did this after the exchange, and then, xan, coran, and kivan come back to talk to me about charging the mercenaries.

 

since I went down with my party, they were now safe, out of the range of the attack. then, I used khalid, jaheira and my PC to fight the mercenaries.

 

What happened then was: I defeated most of the mercenaries, but some scattered away and the game considered the battle over. I could even save the game. At this point, jaheira was under the effect of stun, and while stunned, she couldn't move.

 

So, the slave girls ask xan to help in this situation: Not all the mercenaries dead, and jaheira was stuned.

 

when I was transported to the Inn, jaheira went but was still under the effect of stunning. And no girls or any more talks there whatsoever.

 

I don't want to send xan alone. it's not my party's police. never let your companions in the middle of a quest!!! i want to go together.

 

I'll replay the whole thing again and try to defeat everyone, and try to leave my party free from any spell. I'll update this post after doing so.

well, replayed the whole battle. Saved just after i killed everybody.

 

Now, the exact moment I load, the girls ask for xan's help.

 

I free the girls, and they ask to xan to escort them.

 

I did both ways: went with the party, and when i arrived at the in, there was no girl there.

 

the, i reload. let xan escort them, then I went immediately there. Found Just xan on the second floor. He then says the girls found some wild elves, or anything like that, then I gain 1 reputation point. he automatically rejoins the party.

 

after that, i just wait for about 4 minutes real time, and no 10000 XP.

then, I went outside. waited more outside Friendly arm inn.

 

the, I went to the area below, on the crossroads. waited more.

 

No XP.

Okay, then the only logical reason would be: Xan's script isn't working(has been overwritten?) or isn't assigned for some reason. This has happened before in other games with other players, albeit only a few times.

 

I am sorry about that; If you want to troubleshoot further, your best bet will be sending your save game to the mod's maintainer, cmorgan - or him exploring your weidu.log and finding the incompatibility.

 

(Temp)Solution:

 

You can get the dialogue and the reward via

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("X#XQXanRewarded","GLOBAL",1)

and then clicking on Xan.

One thing I really must know: Should the girls (siene, dialia and minuwiel) appear in the friendly arm inn? or just the party alone? If the party goes, there's any dialogue at the inn?

 

because in any of the circumstances, they don't really appear. if xan escorts alone, well, he mentions that the girls found their way with wild elfs. so it's possible that the slaver never appear again.

 

but if the whole party escorts, should the girls appear on the inn? or no?

 

Anyway, which file should I check in Nearinfinity, in order to find if this script is really there or overwriten?

 

I mean, I would like to solve it in a better way. my weidu.log is posted here. Should I send the savegame as well or isn't necessary?

 

Boy... I'm feeling as a kid asking so many questions...

It's up to cmorgan, I'm afraid, so your best bet is asking him.

 

I think I've (possibly) identified the problem: yes, the girls should appear, and no, they aren't appearing in your game, because they appear through Xan's script, and there obviously is something wrong with that.

 

You can't solve it any better, I'm afraid, save for reinstalling and starting anew, OR just using the solution I posted in the post right above.

well, I'll keep playing.

 

anyway, in xan.bcs file, all of those GLOBALS things are there. probably is something conflicting.

 

I'll see if the problem is SCS, BG2quests or SCSII, which I installed later. I'll unistall these and replay. Anyway, if i reinstall a component of BG1NPC, or anything like that, would that make a diference in my playthrough? or my game is definitely condemnd?

 

If nothing happens, I'll use the temporary solution. Anyway, I'll keep the savegame just before the battle.

 

also, I didn't try using just xan on the party, instead of havin kivan and coran.

 

And if cmorgan is willing to discover, or at least have some insight, I'd be grateful. I'd apreciate that.
