In which sequence do I have to install the following mods for Mac?

Thank you for your detailed answer.

However, due to my ignorance with computers, I am still not able to install the mods.

I downloaded the latest version of weidu-mac and placed a copy in my BGII folder (together with the other mods).

Thereafter I opened the 'bg2fixpack' folder and copied all the contents of this folder to the main BGII folder. Then, I opened a Terminal session and wrote:

ew-170-178:~ Nemo$ /Applications/BGII\ -\ SoA/

-bash: /Applications/BGII - SoA/: is a directory

ew-170-178:~ Nemo$ ./weidu-mac [setuo-bg2fixpack.tp2] --tlkout dialog.tlk

-bash: ./weidu-mac: No such file or directory

As it is not working, I suppose that I did, again, something wrong.

Are you saying that you typed "/Applications/BGII\ -\ SoA/"? If so, that's not what you want to do. If your BGII directory is inside Applications, then at the Terminal prompt, you first type "cd /Applications/BGII\ -\ SoA" and Enter or Return. Your prompt should now show that you're in that directory. If so, then you should be able to run the installer by typing "./weidu-mac Setup-bgt2fixpack.tp2 --tlkout dialog.tlk and ENTER or RETURN. Make sure you don't type the [] characters. From what you showed above, it appears that you weren't inside your BGII directory, so that might be what went wrong. Try it this way, and see what happens.

It might help if you take a screenshot of your Terminal session, if you get another error. To do this, press command-shift-3, and that will take a picture of your entire desktop. Open the file "picture 1" that it creates, and save it as a .jpg (call it something like screenshot.jpg if you like). Then you can show us what it looks like.

Good luck!

Eric

(Got everything but Virtue v19 to install properly!)

OK, the file called weidu-mac needs to be at the same level as setup-bg2fixpack.tp2 but I don't see it there in your BGII directory. So, if you open the WeiDU folder, then option-drag (to copy, not to move) weidu-mac into your BGII directory, it should copy to that location, and then you should be able to run it in the Terminal as before. You are entering the commands in Terminal perfectly.

Cheers,

Eric

However, when I start a game and try to safe (either trough auto- or quick-safe) the BG-window closes and the message 'Save game failed. Do you want to quit?' appears. Where could the error be located this time?

I now reinstalled BGII-SoA, for I thought that the error lies in the installation. I think I was right, because when I tried to start SoA (without having installed ToB or a Patch), the following error occured:

'An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number645

Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data:MISSound.bif'

What does this mean?

Probably an error reading the CD. See here: http://www.macplay.com/support/bg2.php#bg2soa_asserr

You may want to just do a full install since many mods require it.

There are three standard quirks of Mac BG that causes this:

1) "Temp" is a file instead of a folder. Delete it and make a folder by that name. The latest BG2 Fixpack does this automatically with the "fix-temp" script.

2) Spotlight. This spawn of hell scribbles in every directory including those that are sensitive to it like "temp". In the Apple menu choose System Preferences and then Spotlight. In the Privacy tab add your Baldur's Gate directory.

3) Macs with multiple CPUs cause BG2 to crash at random. Turn off all but one before running the BG2 program. You can add this to the Menu bar by System Preferences -> Processor -> Show control in menu bar.
