Item removal in spellhold

Hey,

I am very intrigued by SCS and will be installing the appropriate versions for both tutu and BG2, but am still considering exactly which components to go for, and would thus like some clarification on some things:

I'm particularly interested in raising the feee Gaelan/Bodhi ask for, and would like some opinions on what sort of options works good: I'm thinking 40,000 sounds good, i can usually get about 75,000 gold from the quests i do before going for imoen.

Also, the removal of items in spellhold...when do you get them back?

Are there any bugs with losing items?

Are you are stripped of literally all of them?

I mean, without being too spoilerish about it - i can do without them in the maze i think and it seems realistic that irenicus would strip you of them - though i don't see why he wouldn't dispose of them and thereby prevent you getting them whatsoever...but obviously don't want this...wonder if there is a plausible explanation for this in the game? (no big deal either way) , i just hope they're easy enough to track down soon after? I'd certainly need them for fighting irenicus/assassins after the maze...

Hope you can explain, and the mods sounds great, albeit not having played it yet!

I think it very much depends on your play style. I normally go having done most of the side quests, in which case 100,000 is perfectly affordable.

After escaping the maze, before confronting Irenicus.

The only bug I know of is familiars: your familiar can be confiscated, I believe. This will be fixed in the next version. You also need to make sure that component of SCSII is installed after any other mod that adds items.

Are you are stripped of literally all of them?

All droppable ones, yes. But there is a small stash of items fairly early in Spellhold, and Imoen knows the Enchanted Weapon spell.

Easy: he thinks you're dead (he thinks Bodhi has killed you.) What do you do when you kill enemies with lots of cool stuff: destroy it, or keep it?

They're on the ground floor of the asylum; you can get them after killing (or bribing) Lonk the Sane, but before descending to the basement to take care of Irenicus.

Regarding the fee, does the party have much use for money in chapter 2 e.g. buying weapons and so on, or is the money you earn mainly used to pay for the fee? If it's the latter, I guess there's no harm in raising the fee, since there's nothing else you need to spend your gold on. Please note that I am new to the game, so please try to avoid major spoilers.

You'll probably want to spend at least a little money (and probably more than a little) to survive chapter 2, given that there are lots of nice items for sale and your party starts chapter 2 with very little equipment. How much is a pretty subjective question. At a guess, by the time I went to Imoen I'd spent forty or fifty thousand gold on equipment.

But don't you find most of the nice weapons? What did you buy, exactly? Are you talking mainly about the stuff you get from the bonus merchants? I'm thinking of using Demi-thingy's Item Revisions mod once it's out, which I believe will do away with the bonus merchants and instead scatter their items througout the game.

Anyway, perhaps if I put the fee to around 50,000 (if that's an option), and, like you, look to spend a similar amount on weapons, then that'll mean I'm both well-prepared to rescue Imoen, plus I don't spend an unrealistic amount of time in chapter 2 i.e. I don't take my sweet time with the rescue! That's my main concern when I look at what to increase the fee to.
