Higher HP on Level Up: Maximum

I was just wondering if there's any benefit to installing this, or whether the Normal difficulty will have exactly the same effect. I'll be using L1NPCs for most NPCs, so some will be the correct level when they join the party, and others will be level 1 (dunno if that's a factor at all).
