I can only speak to DSotSC as I'm revising it. Yes, it is overpowered, but it was made quite early on - as such, it was sort of intended as a sequel to BG1 before even BG2, with levels and item values to match. That is part of what we're working on to balance. I wouldn't call it "immature" though - you won't find 'suxxors' or leetspeak or whatever it is in the dialogue at all. I don't even recall any real sillyness in it (apart from a cameo by "Ken the Baker" perhaps, but you'll find some downright silly mods at G3 and PPG).
