Guest Guest Posted June 21, 2008 Share Posted June 21, 2008 I've recently installed BG1 NPC Project through the SMM Auto Installation, and wanted to play BG1 with the Branwen romance (as the SMM doesn't install Dynaheir's one). I've had Branwen in my party for some time (way past 1 hour), and she hasn't said anything to me yet. So... I was wondering how I go about jump starting the romance. I searched the forum, but there doesn't seem to be a thread about this topic. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Link to comment
Domi Posted June 21, 2008 Share Posted June 21, 2008 What's SMM Auto Installation, and why doesn't it install the mod properly? Maybe you can use a normal version of the module, that will install all the components you want? You may try to post your WeiDU log to see if Branwen's was installed. Also take a look at the romance guide and see if yout character meets the romance requirements. Link to comment
cmorgan Posted June 21, 2008 Share Posted June 21, 2008 You will also want to check over at SHS with Hoppy, erebusant, Azzazello, Leonardo, etc., and double-check on the mods you have installed. Several of the mods on BP - like installs might add back Branwen and change her dialog file. But forst, check the romance guide and the known issues for the Mega Install folks! (Domi, off the top of my head so some of the details are guaranteed to be wrong, but from memory the SMM installation is a variant of Mega Modding, where a set of files auto- installs a bunch of mods on BGT to make an "ultimate BGT Mega Install" approachable for newer players. A much more sophisticated and community minded variant of the old "BP Install". The crew over at SHS and on private forums contribute conflict reports and debug mods, and send the info to the original authors nicely. The main project folks do not mirror mods without permission, so I think they are a good project to support when we can. It is hades itself to troubleshoot, but so far it is the most stable and community supported approach to Megas. There is a second project to build a xtml-driven database of mods, a different approach to the bigg's dream of a configurable GUI for WeiDU/BiggDU, and at least one other similar project, so the current new group of players seem to be heading in that direction. In that folder, find the file called "gtimes.ids". Using Notepad or some other editor (NOT MSWORD) open that file and look for the list of entries. Near the bottom should be one called 2700 BRROM_TIMER Please post the results here. I am just wondering how the auto installer deals with READLN, and if it is setting the timer for you, how log it is setting it to. So, the romance talks for Branwen should happen every 1800 seconds (i.e. 30 min)? But that doesn't seem to be happening though... A question. What are the variables involved in the romance? From looking at threads for other romances, there seems to be variables that determine whether the romance is active or not. Maybe I can use Shadowkeeper to check the variable to see if the romance is even active at all. Thank you. Link to comment

The next things to check are the romance variables: P#BranMatch should be at 1, P#BranwenRomanceActive should be at 1, and you should have some value for P#BRLoveTalk if it has been longer than 30 minutes real time from when you were matched with Branwen and began. Since Dynaheir is not installed, the only other thing could be reputation and ShatTeel, but basically if you match Branwen you don't match SharTeel and vice versa... Link to comment

I've got P#BranMatch = 1, but can't see the P#BranwenRomanceActive or the P#BRLoveTalk anywhere... I do have these other variables that seem to be involved with Branwen... P#BRCHDone = 1 P#BRFriendTalk = 2 P#BRFriendTalkTime = 749260 P#BRPCTimerStarted = 1 I'm not sure what they mean, but does it mean that the PC is only a friend to Branwen and not a romance? Awww... Daulmakan Posted June 27, 2008 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Something related to Branwen's Romance: when replying 'I put my faith in Tempus, much as you do' to LoveTalk 3 ("You pursue your enemies with ardor..."), she answers back and the dialogue ends, but immediately she sets it off again. Seems that everytime the option of saying you worship Tempus is selected, the dialogue triggers again. Link to comment
