Aerie ogre form disappears

Heck no Miloch, a sorcerer isn't supposed to know all spells, unless you cheat.
Oh, ok. I've never played a sorcerer, because they suck. (Never quite understood the purpose of implementing a new subclass so close to the existing mage and specialists... even most of the specialists are a waste of kits slots if you ask me.) I suppose the 3 of each spell is intentional too. So no bugs here. Nothing to see, please move along :).

I tested this with v1.1 and made her a sorcerer successfully.

Im just giving feedback. No other than above mods installed and it was a completely new start, including a fresh bg2 reinstall. Mb its because my game is in german, dont know.

Just adding my 2c - I've now got the same problem, Aerie makes her request then wanders off - I can't find her after that!!!

What's the cheat to get her to join and somebody mentioned earlier in the post?

I am using Level 1 NPCs v1.1; also using the fixpack, tweaks, and romantic encounters all from G3 - tried uninstalling the ToB-Style NPCs (what does that do anyway?) and reloading a game from before the circus, but she still wandered off. I have her as a Sorcerer same as the OP.

Any suggestions on what combination of mods is causing this?

Sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but you ask for the BG2 Tweaks component and here is the description of it from the readme:

ToB-Style NPCs

This component will alter all joinable NPCs to join in the same fashion as Throne of Bhaal, where NPCs immediately level-up upon joining, with a caveat: all creature files are moved down to their lowest experience version, so if you pick up an NPC early enough they will not level upon joining. However, later in the game they will, allowing you to select weapon proficiencies, thieving points, and other goodies from the level-up process.

Ah - thanks. Not sure how I missed that :p

Anyhoo - I've answered one of my own questions I think - I used the cheat

CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("AERIE")

And she appeared - though as some other creature (not sure what, might have been a death knight?) but joined me fine and dandy after the "sword" transforms her back. She had masses of XP though, my party were all on around 200K, and she was on 800K!!! She was also back to her normal Cleric/Mage and in ShadowKeeper, it still had her original "out of party" character showing in the list as the Sorcerer I made her as...weird...

You want to CLUA in a version of Aerie that's closer to the level of your party or the main character. Try CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("AERIE10") or even 9.

I've gotten stuck with the same problem as the original poster and others, even in the newest version.

Aerie was changed into a sorceress.

My cure was the following:

- Forcetalk with an NPC every 0.2 seconds to fool the script that causes her Orge form to leave the area. She will give you the "you still haven't gotten the sword" speech.

- Kill with your NPCs the two peasants.

- Pickup the sword (whilst you've probably been forcetalking with her for 50 times by now).

- She'll then recognise the sword and continue the rest of the changing script.

- Keep forcetalking until she asks to join (it took me three times before the script saw that she wasn't an ogre anymore)

- Then she'll join and gain XP.... though some of the XP bonuses were lost because she didn't immediately join and the script assigned XP to noone as Aerie wasn't truly in the party yet.

An interesting solution without having to resort to clua or shadowkeeper (because that's the reason why you use lvl1npc... to avoid shadowkeeper altogether).

I'm getting this bug too, with version 1.1.

I'm getting this bug too, with version 1.1.

Actually, in a sense the bug is worse than has been described so far. She not only bolts when you first encounter her in ogre form, but if you go on to kill Kalah, when the circus tent returns to normal, Aerie will bolt again, but then the cutscene she's supposed to have with Quayle will trigger, and the game will hang since she can't give her lines. Indeed, this could even be game breaking for someone without a save prior to the circus tent.

Some sort of mod incompatibility may be involved, but uninstalling the "Aerie" component of Level 1 NPCs solved the problem (if I went back to before first meeting her), and reinstalling the component reintroduced it.

(I made Aerie a sorcerer, as did many of the others.)

Here is my WeiDU.log from when I first encountered the bug.

I'm resurrecting this topic 'cause I, too, have experienced this problem with Level 1 NPCs over the course of my current playthrough. Once Aerie's initial conversation has concluded, she then elects to 'bolt'. Furthermore, I can corroborate Frabjous' determination that if left unchecked, Aerie will repeat this behaviour as the circus quest aftermath cutscene begins, leaving the game in a perpetually hanging state.

Very annoying. The only ways to work around the issue, should it arise, seem to be either periodically engaging Aerie using the 'force-talk' trick before she makes her escape and until any remaining party members are able recover her key; or, failing that, simply spawning her via the console (before the final circus cutscene, obviously).

Here is a current thread related to the bug over at the BioWare forums, for further reference. Click here.

Edit: And just for the sake of clarity, this is not solely a complaint directed towards the mod or its developers. I would like to thank Nythrun for all her efforts in creating Level 1 NPCs, and Erik for all his efforts in maintaining it. :suspect:

Thanks for the reminder. Finally tracked this one down. :suspect:

Grab v1.3eib2 from my sig, and reinstall the mod. The whole mod, not just the Aerie component - the bug needed fixing in the core component.

(For the curious - HPLT(Myself,5) => EscapeArea in an AI script naturally triggered when changed to a level 1 creature with 4 hit points...)
