[bgmain.exe] Patching Failed (COPY) (Not_found)

Recommended Posts

I'm running Vista 64 (yes, I know ...) without UAC. Aside from the HDD, my specs can be seen here.

The game is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\BGII - SoA\.

My version of BGII (SoA) is a 4 CD version, seemingly deviating from what is usually referred to.

Currently, the official patch and the fixpack have been installed. I didn't want to bother with the TutuGUI because of the potential green glitches, but yet here I am. :(

As for the debug:

Also, I am not able to reinstall the MOD, so assuming one comes up with a potential suggestion, let me know - by link to an appropriate resource - what files to clean up prior to attempting a reinstall.

Thanks.

PS: If multiple copies of my thread appear, it's because of some major internet issues.

I must be getting old, another person had the same problem and I haven't identified it earlier :/

solution: open (with Wordpad) {bg2}\widescreen\lib\game_config.tpa and replace (via edit -> replace) "0x0x" with "0x" (without the quotes). Hopefully this will fix the problem (I don't have plain SoA and thus can't test directly).

Thanks for swift response - and sorry about the multiple thread. Internet's fine now, fortunately.

I can't seem to find the "widescreen" folder in my BG2 directory. Is it supposed to be in your regular BG2 root at C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\BGII - SoA?

I just reinstalled BG2 laboriously following the guide mentioned. Just to make sure, before messing anything up: I've installed the patch; after that I install the fixpack, and after that the widescreen MOD. Right?

Link to comment
Yeah, that's correct. Make sure to fix the file in the widescreen folder before installing WSM.

Hmm. I'm going to be a little dense with you just to make sure I don't get anything mixed up, but which file in what folder should I fix?

Again, sorry about the double post - this time it was the confirm code that messed up.

copying and pasting from above: open (with Wordpad) {bg2}\widescreen\lib\game_config.tpa and replace (via edit -> replace) "0x0x" with "0x" (without the quotes). Hopefully this will fix the problem (I don't have plain SoA and thus can't test directly).

I finally found the folder; I thought it was an .exe, since it had a custom G3 icon rather than a folder icon. Stroke of luck that I noticed it.

Following your sagely advice, the installation was successful. Thanks!
