Guest catch22
... Did you patch the game to v26498(BG2ToB)? Yes ofcourse. installed bg2 + latest patch installed tob + latest patch Note, ive run this setup flawlessly upon today, no changes. Tried delete widescreen subdir, and reinstall, no dice either. Cant uninstall it from add/remove programs either Cant install it and cant uninstall it, now thats a new one.. Ive delete the log file and let it produce a new one , not much info though: // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] Link to comment
Guest catch22
SOLVED Re-installed ToB patch then it worked. But i wouldnt understand why this patch had to be re-installed?! Something must have interfeered using widescreen in 2 different gamefolders (both bg2 and PS). FYI installed bg2 all patches etc etc and widescreen played many hrs. then decided to dl PS installed it patched with wsm etc etc played 5 mins decided this game sucked terrible, maybe good for a kid but not for me so went back to bg2 and all this happened. Might be somehting for devs to look at if interest exist. Conclusion: Wsm doesnt work in 2 different games at same time, some ghostly effect bg2 patch gets untagged somehow.. Nevermind.. Conclusion: Wsm doesnt work in 2 different games at same time, some ghostly effect bg2 patch gets untagged somehow... Ah, but the Widescreen mod is a WeiDU installer, even though it uses the G3 auto installer.exe, now the WeiDU doesn't use the Windows InstallShield... cause it's the g&/(¤ piece of code ever invented... which is the program that you would refer to when wanting to uninstall the programs via the Windows "add/remove programs" console. The WeiDU is the program that let's one to install the game mods itself. Now it works by creating a mod directory (usually) called *modname*, the executable is renamed as setup-*modname*.exe and the command line up that the setup-*modname*.exe executes is called setup-*modname*.tp2 . Now the auto exe's that most of the G3 mods are, just copies the files to the set game directory and launches the setup-*modname*.exe, usually. Now, as the WeiDU works on all the Infinity Engine games, some mods can be made so they work on all of them. The Widescreen mod here is example, and it works very well on all of the game on the at same time! Now you might have made a user error by, for example: Installing the Baldur's Gate game to already occupied space left from previous installation, cause the files were still there after successful uninstallation of the primary program(the game, not the mods)... or installing a mod in the middle of compiling the programs primary installation(say, you install one piece of the game(BG2:SoA), mod it a bit and then put the addition packge(BG2:ToB) to the game, and then install few mods more until you remember that you have to install the patch, so you patch is it and then try to reinstall already installed mod files because you had a problem because the bad installation structure) you'll have a broken game. Now as always, you have to install the primary program first(the game and all it's parts; addition packages and patches, and then run it so you see it works), before you go and modify it with mods. And you don't need to install the SoA patch, as it's included in the ToB already. Link to comment
