Guest Guest_Boo_*
G3 Fixpack Item Revision + hot fix Spell Revision Romantic Encounters Banter Pack Flirt Pack G3 Tweak Pack SCS II Full Plate Level 1 NPC Widescreen Does this look right? Cheers and thanks in advance. It's great to see the BG2 modding scene, and G3 in particular, still alive and kicking. =] Link to comment
Guest Guest_Boo_*
Oh, and I wanted to throw in a mod NPC to that list, where would I put it? Link to comment
Daulmakan
Seems OK. Mod NPCs would go before the flirt pack. Link to comment
grogerson
Tweak packs should go last, as a rule, otherwise those mods added after will not receive its benefits. Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
Tweak Pack should go after SCSII and Full Plate, as a rule if you want it's changes to take preponderance, otherwise those mods added after will take it. Thanks! And never suggest the Widescreen mod to be installed anywhere but as the last one. Link to comment
Guest Depressed Boo
No dice. I installed exactly that order and got messed up corrupted text in the main menus. I would have tried to see if it pervaded in the game itself (as in in-game dialogue, etc) but it was pretty much impossible to navigate to the game. I wish I had saved a screenshot, but I deleted that BG2 install and the mods (dammit, now I can't post a log either). Any idea what could've caused it? Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
It's hard to say... Did you remember to play the game as a try out until the game autosaves itself before you modify it with mods? What Graphic card do you have? Link to comment
Guest Guest
No I didn't :/ But that's never been a problem before ... Should I try installing it again and doing the auto-save thing? I've got a GeForce 7600 Go, never had a problem card-wise with BG2. Perhaps I should cut down on mods ... Curious though, I was very careful not to install components that could overlap each other. Guest Guest
It's definitely a mod conflict issue, since BG2 + TOB (patched) works fine run without mods. Link to comment
Daulmakan
The problem you describe sounds like a corrupted Dialog.tlk, did you by any chance have any other IE application (such as Infinity Explorer, Shadow Keeper, etc.) running while loading BG2? From the items in your list that I've tried (Fixpack, Romantic Encounters, Banter Pack, Flirt Pack, Tweak Pack, Level 1 NPC) I don't see any conflicts, and I'm not aware of one with any of the others. Guest Guest
Nope, didn't have any such programs running... But I'm totally convinced its something to do with the mods (install order), because BG2's text wasn't corrupted prior to installing them. Link to comment
Mike1072
Nope, didn't have any such programs running... But I'm totally convinced its something to do with the mods (install order), because BG2's text wasn't corrupted prior to installing them. If you are convinced, try installing them one at a time and running the game after each one. I've not heard of anything in that list causing a problem like you're describing. Link to comment
Guest John
In addition to the suggestion from Mike1072, I would suggest start with a fresh install of BG2/ToB with the official patch. From experience, I know that repeated installs and unistalls of mods can lead to problems. IIRC, G3 has a thread about what files to back up so that you can minimize the time to re-install the game. And if you go this route, remember to at least move or rename the old WeiDu log, otherwise the first mod you add will use that log, which is really not what you want to happen. You're trying to start fresh Good luck, John Link to comment
Daulmakan
Try these steps before doing another try on the mods, it'll make things easier: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,17555.0.html Link to comment
Guest Hopeful Space Hamster
Hey thanks for all the help guys. I'll definitely try installing one mod at a time, and I really really appreciate the links to those install guides. I'll post up the logs this time if I have a problem. Link to comment
