Guest agnar Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Ok, i don't know which of the mods caused it but hoping someone here might know. It happened when trying to start a fresh bg2 game. I don't have the weidu log anymore i'm afraid, as i've since wiped it to start over on other stuff. But i installed stuff in approx. this order: BG2 soa tob official patch fixpack v6 vic's improvements 1.9 banterpacks v9 iepbanters v3.2 improved horns v1.2 oversight v12 plasmo picks v2 level 1 npcs v1.1 unfinished business v18 weimer item upgrade v37 weimer underrep v5 Kim NPC v1.61 (recently translated into english from french) tweaks v6 The exact install order may be wrong, but i definitely did tweaks last, Kim just before tweaks, and fixpack first (after official patch). Something on this list, screwed up the proficiencies list though. When i went to create a character the weapon types (2handed, single, sword/shield, and 2 weapon) were missing. A couple others were missing or renamed. Like Dagger was still dagger but it was named the weapon above or below it, sling the same way, long bow also i believe. So i'd have 2 things called long sword, 2 called war hammer... i tried removing level 1 npcs, because i thought it has something that changes proficiencies, then creating a new character but the problem remained. So, any clue which of these mods might screw up the proficiency tables this way? i'll make sure to skip it next time i get the chance to play the Kim npc mod as that was my intent for this clean start. But i've used all of them previously, except Kim, without this problem, so i'm not sure which component i installed differently, which piece of which mod might bring this on, if it's something from a new version of one of them. Any clues from anyone?
jon-eli Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Level 1 NPCs duplicates some of the tweaks in the Tweak Pack. Definitely don't install similar components from both. I can see that getting ugly. It sounds like you've got two mods tussling to do slightly different things on the same set of data. Just make sure not to install the rebalanced weapon prof. stuff from Tweaks... use Level 1 NPCs for that.

But i probably got too lax in my installation, thinking i'd done it so often i didn't need to pay full attention. hah that'll teach me to be distracted... i'm running through CA .49 now, but i'll try it again after that and pay more attention to skipping anything touching proficiencies. Thanks for the help!
