Beta testing... the iwd_in_bg2-v1.exe

Recommended Posts

Cool. And not so cool.

The installation description is a little distracting as it says not t use Terminal Slashes :) But it wants to say "C:\Games\BGII - SoA" without the quote marks. The path is example...

While installing, I noticed that the first real bug, is that the first WeiDU window ends in an endless loop that displays the WeiDU options endlessly, with comment that said [Dale] being unknown command, or the like.icon9.gif

Still installing...

Edit: Got the same errors as ronin69hof, and hmm, there is no setup-ice_tutu_tweaks.exe, so I had to make it to run it. Will test now the game... and the window doesn't reply to Windows(OS)... so I yhad to close it like ronin. :)

PS: using Windows Vista... with UAC off.

If this helps...

Hmm, the two indexes might be wrong, might not be a big problem... as I used the recommended auto install ...for now.

And you can download the two debug files the setup- files made from here. Ask if you need it to be somewhere else... and do a virus check on these... just in case.

Same here with that first window, had to ctrl+c it. Typing in the path to bg2 and iwd was also a bit confusing like Jarno said.

using XP Pro 64bit

installed in d:\program files\ so its not the (x86) directory problem.

I also had no setup-ice_tutu_tweaks just like Jarno.

OK, something clearly not working there.

(There's no point even trying the install if it doesn't successfully install all the components, incidentally.)

Can one of you explain to me in more detail what that endless window loop is and at what stage it occurs?

@ronin: it looks as if for some reason not all the IWD resources are being copied across - notably, the WED files and some of the scripts. That's what's causing the failures of the WEIDU phase. So that means the debug file isn't useful - the error is happening earlier, in the running of the two batch files.

... hmmm, not entirely sure of the best way to debug this, since it's working fine on my system. Try the following, if you've got patience:

1) run setup-iwd-in-bg2 and uninstall everything.

2) rerun get-iwd-resources.bat (in the IWD-in-BG2 directory, though you may need to call it from the main directory - I'm at work and can't recall which directory it intends to be run from.)

3) open up Near Infinity and see if ar9801.wed is there. If it is, it's probably worth trying to run setup-iwd-in-bg2 again.

just got home from work. let me eat and shower and then I will start a new install. The first window that loops with the weidu info when you run the program for the first time and give the paths to bg2 and iwd. it loops, it appears, after it gets done copying all the iwd resources and then it looks like all of the sudden it does not recognize the path since it has a space in it. My error was:

files\icewind command not found and I installed in d:\program files\icewind dale\ if we could make the installer accepte quotes ( " ) then it could possibly work. when I reinstall I will use a directory without spaces in it.

That sounds pretty plausible as the reason - the directories I used all had no spaces. I should think allowing quotes should be easy enough, though I'm no experts on BAT files (I basically used Cam's work here).

Well, when I put the get-iwd-resources.bat in to the game convertion folder(C:\IcewindTUTU\) and ran it, it found the files it was looking for, as I first ran it inside the (C:\IcewindTUTU\iwd_in_bg2\) and it reported few errors o not finding the files... and I haven't seen an error yet, so I'll install the rest... with the SETUP-IWD_IN_BG2.exe, as that should disregard the not found files... and report back in a hope that something might work or that we'll find something new to fix. :)

Edit: Here picture of the loops start:

sieppaaus.jpg

And it ran after I started the get-iwd-resources.bat, so the error might be in it or the files it affects.

Try the following, if you've got patience:
Hmm, what's that? I know what Impatiency is as we imps are that, but... :)

So apparently there was still too many errors... I'll be following ronins way now.

and lots of "cant find block matching" lines for some baf's.

do not install bg2 and iwd with directories with spaces in them until the batch file gets fixed. d:\games\bg2\ is ok but d:\games\baldurs gate 2\ is not ok

the installer still did not create the ICE_TUTU_TWEAKS.exe which is not a big deal as I can create that myself.

Whenever I make batch (BAT) files for windows or even use an AT_NOW command in weidu I always use quotes around my directories and file names.

If this appeared in windows explorer bar D:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale

it would need to be entered into your bat file as "D:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale"

otherwise you'll get the crashes that have been reported.

I'm installing now, using Windows XP sp3, with the games in f:\games\(BG2 and IWD1). I had to move them from f:\black isle\(BG2 and IWD1). I was taken a little off guard, assuming the install would be like BGT, and require the BG2 game (install or clone). At least this thread is helping me get it in...

Looks like it finished installing -- after only ten minutes...

It's actually very BGT like. Now, the ten minute marker is ok with the second faze of the installation where the BG2 and IwD info are combined by the setup-iwd_to_bg2.exe, but the first faze(iwd_in_bg2-v1.exe) toke about an hour, as it copies both BG2 and IwD info to create new game folder where the setup-iwd_to_bg2.exe is used.
