Blade vs F/I

Improved Haste + Critical Strike is so unbelievably powerful compared to Greater Whirlwind
Critical strike does little good. It provides autohit, but rarely double damage, as most of the enemies have something in their helm slot.

And WW with a two-hander can dish out about 250 damage in a round. On the other hand Imp Haste lasts twenty times longer.

And the imp haste and C-hit can dish at least that much if you have Crom (25 Strength=+14 damage per hit) and 5(1original+1 from 13 level fighter+1 from 5start, +1 from two weapons+1 from belm/the other sword) hit's per round*2(from Improved haste)...

PS: that's 10 hit's there.

On topic: F/I later on, blade (maybe) early on.

Crom+Belm is cheese. Unlike any two-hander save Carsomyr.

Speaking of cheese, how would Crom beat the Ram staff, huh?

Cool.

Depends on how you look at it. Depending on the weapon combination and the question if we have True Grandmastery then Crom+weapon X might outdo the Staff of the Ram in terms of damage.

Assuming we hit with every attack and assuming we have True Grandmastery and therefore one extra attack if five points are spent in a weapon category we might have something like this:

Flail of Ages +5 (main hand), Crom Faeyr (off hand) with grandmastery in flails and hammers + the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization. Therefore we can have 2+0.5+0.5+1+1 attacks. Add Improved Haste and we're at 10.

(10 (each of the elemental heads of the FoA) + 1-6 (base damage of the flail), + 6 (bonus damage of the flail))*8 + (2-8 (base damage of Crom Faeyr) + 3 (bonus damage of Crom Faeyr)*2 + (14 (bonus damage of 25 strength) + 2 (Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization) + 4 (grandmastery, not sure about the value)*10 = 346-398 damage per round (assuming there aren't any resistances or immunities).

Staff of the Ram +6 + the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization. Therefore we can have 2+0.5+0.5+1 attacks, 8 with Improved Haste. Let's add a Potion of Storm Giant Strength so that the strength is comparable.

(1-6 (base damage of the SotR) + 12 (bonus damage offered by the staff) + 1-4 (even more bonus damage) + 12 (bonus damage 24 strength offers) + 2 (Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization) + 4 (grandmastery))*8 = 256-320 damage per round (assuming there aren't any resistances or immunities).

In short: the more attacks we have and the lower our staffwielder's strength is the more he pales in comparison to that particular weapon combination. Others might achieve similar effects though.

Khm, I forgot about FoA's +10 elemental damage. Still two-handed weapon style provides +1 extra damage to Ram, so without grandmastery/STR/gauntlets they're

1d6 + 12 + 1d4 + 1 = 19

1d6 + 10 + 6 = 19.5

Given the amount of resistances late in game I'd say they're equal, Ram being available a bit earlier.

Wrong, as one only gets the weapon proficiency extra attacks from the main weapon, not from the minor one.

So the attack count will be 1 as normal, 1 from being 13th level fighter, 1 from the two weapon use, and half from the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization, and 1 from weapon specification.

And so the average damage for;

The calculations go like this... (First weapons attacks*av.damage+second weapons attack*av.damage+total weapon attacks*(extra damage from 25 str bonus+specialification bonus+gauntlet bonus))*2 from improved haste.

Staff of Ram even with 25 str and Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization: (3.5*(3.5+12+2.5)+3.5*(14+4+2))*2= 266

Crom+Belm, with gauntlets of weapon specification:((3+1)*(5+3)+1*(3.5+2)+(3+1+1)*(14+4+2))*2= 275, as the average of 1 to 4 times 2 is 5.

Flail of Ages+Crom, and Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization: (3.5*(3.5+10+6))flail+(5+3)crom+(4.5*(14+4+2))xtr damage)*2= 332.5

Ah right, forgot about that.

Yeah, one might say that. Especially the elemental damage of the FoA depends heavily on what sort of enemy you fight.

[...]

2 from being a 13th+ level fighter (1+0.5+0.5)

0.5 from specilization

0.5 from the gauntlets

1 from grandmastery

1 due to a second weapon in the offhand

-> 5
