Necessary fixes for vanilla BG+TotCS

Baldurdash+DudleyVille?

Actually they are mods, and the only necessary fixes are in the patch v(1.3.)5512. And if you have a NVidia card, the nvidia_fix from here might be needed, it's a WeiDU mod.

Now, I would actually suggest to install the The Fields of the Dead mod and it's fix just after the patch, then BG1UB, The Grey Clan Episode I, the Baldur's Gate Mini-Quests and Encounters Mod, then BG1Tweaks and Widescreen Mod.

Arent they fixes? I have played the Grey Clan Episode and didnt like it. It is so unlike BG. And there isnt any BG1 Tweaks? What do you think about DudleyVille and Baldurdash. Be mind that i am planning to play vanilla BG not Tutu or BGT.

The problem with Dudleyville and Baldurdash is they overwrite files, not patch them. And many of the fixes are more akin to tweaks, not real fixes. There is a fixpack in the works, all you need do is find a post by plainab. His sig has a link to it. It's an open BETA, but it works and I use it.

Grey Clan is a mod, not a fixpack. Don't like it? Don't install it. I like the Xan mod myself. It can be installed in vanilla BG1, and makes having the fatalistic mage interesting to have around.

BG1 Tweaks is hosted here. Just check the Downloads page. If you want a bag of holding, though, you'll have to find Tioma's tweak pack, hosted at Sorcerer's Place and other sites. I'd recommend installing that before BG1 Tweaks, since it replaces files instead of patching them. They are specifically for BG1, not BGT or Tutu.

If you want to know what other mods are around for vanilla BG1, check over at Pocket Plane Group. They have one of the best mod lists around IMO, with links, and it's well organized too.

The Imp takes a surgerial stab, so you might understand.

No, they are mods, as they are tweaks that the players have made, because there is no "real bugs" in the BG1 game(in this circomstance; a bug is one that brakes the game if this or that action is made), just odities that have their own rules cause of the engine.

Then do not install the mod.

I though that you could be able to open the "Completed Mods" link that nearly all the mods are, I provided the Widescreen mod link cause it's in the Tools cathegory.

And I did take that well into consideration...

The Xan is the worst mage ever.

And the rest is true.

I agree, if he's the standard BioWare specialist. But not if he's a generalist, which option I've added to the BG1 Tweaks mod  .

Thanks to everyone for so much detailed replies. But i want to discuss something about bugs. If robes of electric resistance doesnt give any resist, doesnt it count as a bug?

And personally what mods do you prefer?

Also do you use custom soundsets? If which ones is the best?

With that example, there is enough in-game to say that they should. Therefore, it is a bug.

My favourite mod? Probably SCS(II) right now.

I don't use custom soundsets.

Yes, but doing an --change-log'ing on the item would identify the mod change history, and give the faulty mod to blame. So make a "results" directory into the game directory, start the WeiDU.exe and push Enter abut ten times until a console comes out and insert:
--change-log clck11.itm --out results --out results/log1.txt

And open the file in the results directory, and paste the info.

Mine...

Personalty, I like the TC's a lot, so I say the Classic Adventures.

The Robe of Electrical Resistance not granting its advertised resistance bonus is a bug present in patched, unmodded TotSC.

As listed in the current patches of the "Open Beta" of the BG Fixpack on my website, see sig below or link in Jarno's post above, this has been fixed.
Chapter 1 & Beyond: Cloak #11 Needs Electricity Resistance

General Patches Throughout Game Group

Electricity Resistance is added to a cloak whose description said it was there.

Files: clck11.itm

At least you can check it out and tell me if it is fixed or if I royally screwed it up...

I am going to start BG again but this time with my friends. They have never played BG before. Should i use Tutu,Stratagems,Fields of Dead or different mods?

Ahh, then it is. But there aren't wery many of them, as there are far more of the tweaks on all the "fixpack"(Dudleyville, Baldurdash...), like the weapon proficiency extras etc. removals.

That depends on how hard you wish to make it for your friends, as all of those mods do increase the difficulty a bit... but know that you all need to have the exact same installation component order on all the computers, or the game will not work.

And what do you think about removing or setting higher the xp cap? Will it make our characters overpowered and spoil the balance of the game?
