Migrating a modded install

Hi all,

Just a quick question - I'm going to be doing a windows 7 install and I wanted to find out whether I could easily migrate my heavily modded BG2 install to the new environment. Is it as simple as zipping the black isle folder and moving it? Are there any particular registry keys I need to import/export?

You do not need any registery keys, if you start the game from the bgmain.exe, instead of the regular baldur.exe, as this step jumps the front end step that actually starts the bgmain.exe anyway.

And then you 'uninstall' the game by deleting the game folder.

Now, incase you change the game directories names, so it's not in the same place it was in the old machine, then you need to edit the baldur.in with text editor, like Notepad... so the [Alias] headers point to the right direction.

Exactly how many mods? It doesn't matter, just asking...

Sounds good, moving a directory and editing some ini files I can handle

I have the fixpack, tweakpack, dungeon be gone, Kivan, Solafein, npckits, level1npcs, ascension, and the widescreen mod installed. Probably not a lot by G3 standards but enough to make me want to avoid reinstalling everything :mwaha:
