Malik Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Hello everyone, The Widescreen Mod doesn't work with my Icewind Dale II-Installation and I really don't know why. I have a Windows XP-machine with a Nvidia 9600 GT-graphic card. I use the newest IWD2-patch-Version (it is automatically installed with my (btw. German) compilation-version). I also use the newest Nvidia driver 186.18 and the newest WSM-Version 2.2. What I have tried: I used a fresh IWDII-installation into a new folder without old files. I started the IWDII-config-tool and set the resolution to 1024x768. Then started a new game and saved once. Then I started the WSM-setup trying about 10 different screen resolutions (I was desperate). I will alway get the same Error-Message: "EXE patching failed." Here's my SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG: WeiDU v 21100 Log C:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale IIb\setup-widescreen.exe [./CHITIN.KEY] loaded, 365212 bytes [./CHITIN.KEY] 133 BIFFs, 25819 resources [dialog.tlk] loaded, 6011454 bytes [dialog.tlk] 41422 string entries [./icewind2.ini] loaded, 2076 bytes Possible HD/CD Path: [C:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale IIb] Possible HD/CD Path: [C:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale IIb\Data\] Possible HD/CD Path: [C:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale IIb\CD2\] Possible HD/CD Path: [G:\CD2\] Possible HD/CD Path: [H:\CD2\] Possible HD/CD Path: [i:\CD2\] Possible HD/CD Path: [J:\CD2\] [./Keymap.ini] loaded, 1181 bytes [./Language.ini] loaded, 19890 bytes [./Party.ini] loaded, 24890 bytes [dialogf.tlk] loaded, 6011667 bytes [dialogf.tlk] 41422 string entries [C:\Black Isle\Icewind Dale IIb\setup-widescreen.exe] Using scripting style "IWD2" [dialog.tlk] claims to be writeable. Jarno Mikkola Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 The Widescreen Mod doesn't work with my Icewind Dale II-Installation and I really don't know why. What I have tried: I will alway get the same Error-Message: "EXE patching failed." What's the version number on that autopatching patch? If it's not v2.01, I would suggest to patch the game to v2.01 with the one in here. Install that and then install Widescreen v2.2...
Avenger Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I might be completely off the track, but i think your nvidia patch altered the .exe so wsm cannot do it. Try to apply WSM first, then the nvidia patch.
Malik Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 I still don't know what exactly was the problem but I found a workaround: I reinstalled using my old english version of IWD2. Since the only thing different from most users here was the language I guessed that this could help and it did. Avenger: Since both the nvidia fix and WSM are in Weidu format it should be impossible to do anything wrong with the order of the installation. I think if you try to install an old weidu mod over a newer one that is already installed it will work like this: 1) uninstall newer mod 2) install old mod 3) (re)install newer mod so that the newest ones are always installed on top.
erik Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Malik: Heh. That's a very optimistic view of weidu and mods, I'm afraid. Doesn't work that way. Witness the hundreds of "best install order" threads over the years.
Jarno Mikkola Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 ... Well, I was talking about the Game version number, not of the Widescreen mods version number. As you need the IwD2 v2.01, as that's the only supported version of the game by the Widescreen mod.
