Stuck in Ymm's house

I fear I'm missing something obvious. Amber was kidnapped, and I found my way to Ymm's house. I killed the guards, and talked to the staff (including the imp). There are two locked doors upstairs that I can't open, no matter what I try (knock, pick, force, etc). I've tried waiting for certain times, hoping something special would happen, but so far I've only seen the imp say he needs to cover for the chef and then nothing happens.

 

Any thoughts on what I'm missing? Thanks in advance for help.
