Shadows drain STR without hitting?

Hi,

Another strange occurrence.

At the start of the Unseeing Eye Cult quest, you're beset by Ettercaps and Shadows. Imoen got her strength drained -2 even though no Shadow could ever hit anyone in the party.

Protected by stoneskin, I guess? Stoneskin will absorb the hit point damage, but not the strength drain that comes with it.

You mean there would be no mention of the hit in the feedback window? That must be it then, though I didn't see the hit graphically either.
