Bishop LT20 script misfire

Recommended Posts

ok, I am somewhat annoyed. I finished recruiting the lizardmen to my cause and from what I understand is that bishop is supposed to give a talk after speaking to the Elder..... yet nothing. bah!!! I reloaded to a point after the batha battle but before speaking to elder and still nada.....

Has anyone else encountered this? or is it just another script misfire? how do I fix it so I get the talk.

I figured oh okay maybe he will give talk at the Keep after talking with Nevalle or Kana about alliances, nope. so I exited the game and here I am. any help is appreciated. thanks.

It is a script misfiring. Unfortunately, the most reliable way of triggering the talks in NWN2 (painting the triggers on the map) is not available to us, so all we can do to fire the 'on the spot' talks is to attach the script to the exit from a conversation. This talk is triggered on the exit from the elder conversation after you report to him about the solution of the lizardmen problem. I can take a look at the code tonight to give you exact line after which the talk is supposed to fire.

Would you? that would be great. thank you. I have already missed talks from both guys before and don't want to miss any more. For example, for Bishop I did not get LT5, LT11, LT14, and of course LT20.

For Cas, I did not get LT2 (although that may have been PID initiated, forgot to talk with him to see), LT6, LT6a, not sure about LT7 or LT8, I may have, I don't remember exactly what was said now, nor did I get LT11, LT13 altho that was only if Torio was recruited which I did not, LT14 he did not specifically say "does this armor make me look like a prat?" altho he and bishop WERE arguing about PC, maybe that last part was also PID?

The other ones not mentioned I got, or haven;t gotten to yet.

I know some talks require certain "paths" taken or dialogue choices picked but some I think are script mis-fires.

Also, for Bishop do you have to tell Daughun that Bishop is the one you love to get that talk? Just wondering.

One last thing, I got the LT21 for Casavir right AFTER meeting Light of Heavens and BEFORE I sparred with her 2 more times. Is that a big problem or not? It says talk requires recruiting her for the keep to get it.

Heya, you will have to talk to Berelinde about Casavir's stuff. LT after talking to Mayne triggers after the line:

PC reports to Maine that Lizardmen joined the cause.

Maine: These are strange times indeed. We will begin our preparations immediately.

Maine: Thank you again. Though Highcliff may be forgotten, your bravery will not be.

Then, if your character is a female, Bishop is in the party and P#BishopRomanceInactive is NOT set to 1, Bishop is coded to start LT19.

Hmmmm... everything except that last part you said happened in the talk with the Elder but I do not know about the P#BishopRomanceInactive being set to 1 or not? where do you access that? in the program files directory? I have flirted with Bishop (and Cas) so many times they probably think PC is obsessed with them, (silently goes, hehe!):D

That one was more of brief custcene extension, so you didn't miss much.

LT6, LT6a,
That one required that you follow a very specific dialogue path with Nya, where she talks about her lost lover. It's kind of a shame you missed it, since the big oaf is about as vulnerable in that one as he's likely to get in Act 2, but you really do have to hear about Nya's lover for it to make sense.

LT11,
That's weird. There's a PID backup for that one, so you really should have gotten it.
LT13 altho that was only if Torio was recruited which I did not,
Yeah, you need Torio on your team for that one to be relevant.

LT14 he did not specifically say "does this armor make me look like a prat?" altho he and bishop WERE arguing about PC,
No, he doesn't say specifically that. The synopsis was more about the general mood of the talks, rather than the literal first lines of them. In that talk, his main concern is that you think he's too rigid for his own good or for your comfort.

It's possible that you didn't get LT 23 because you didn't get Bishop's LT20.

Thank the gods it worked. Yeah, you're supposed to get it then. He's just seen you kick a celestial's butt. He's impressed. The second time, it isn't such a big deal, since he's seen you do it once already. It's probably the first time that he really feels superfluous.

With the exception of LT24, when you return to Crossroad Keep after the True Names meeting, all of Casavir's talks have PID backup, so if the conditions for them were right, you probably got them.

I did get the LT24 when I returned to CK, just didn;t mention the talks up to that point. Basically for Cas, I DID get LT1, LT4, LT5, LT7?, LT8, I think,(not sure about the last 2 mentioned) LT10, LT12, LT14, LT15, LT16, LT17, LT18,LT19, LT20, LT21,LT24.

Also, LT2 didnot get, already explained that one, I know LT3 was scrapped and so wereLT9 and 27 so I;m not worried about those.

LT 22 I havenot gotten to Mt. Galardrym yet so that is not a prob, LT23 I am waiting for, as for LT25, 26 and 28 I am not there yet so.....

Also, just a question out of curiosity.... how come the one for Cas isn't on the LT list, the one right after Bishop kisses PC after the trial by combat? I got it 1 time, and the other time did not get (must have to follow certain dialogue path to get Cas to pipe up. ) (like for example, not playfully slapping Bishop after he kisses PC. ) I did that the 1st time, 2nd playthrough my PC kissed him back and then Cas talked "You let that animal kiss you!"

ok, got off the original topic which was supposed to be about Bishop not Casavir.

what you mentioned before, Domi, about the code BishopRomanceInactive, the romance is as active as can be other than having high inf. with him which I don't .

could possibly the fact I healed Vlssk the lizardmen in the pen and lost 1 influence with Bishop have anything to do with the fact I am not getting the talk? I don't know why that would be an issue there, but figured I'd ask. Maybe you need high inf. with him to get it?

And how do I access this code mentioned?

No, influence is not one of the conditions checked. I listed them all. The way you look up the global is:

Find in your MY DOCUMENTS folder NWN2 folder, then locate a subfolder called "Saves". Your path will look something like this:

My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\Saves

Open the relevant saved game.

Open that subfolder.

Locate a file called globals.xml

Open globals.xml in any text editor software you are using (Word, for example). Use "open with" function, otherwise it opens up in the Internet Explorer.

Use search function on the text editor to find P#BishopRomanceInactive

If it's there, and it's set to 1, reset it to 0, and save the file. Make sure it's still xml format. Open the saved game and continue on playing.

I think there is an rs code that forces a conversation, I will take a look once I am home, so you can force the talk.

ok, thanks this is really informative and helpful as I wasn;t sure if you had to fire up the toolset or not.

An rs code that forces the talk.... you mean on the console in the game?

Link to comment

alright there is still a problem, I followed the instructions up to the point of open with function of global.xml Then I ran into 2 problems.

1-the search option was disabled, VERY aggravating it said FIND option disabled to enable purchase an updated? (not sure exactly what it said) copy of the software I was viewing this on.

2-I had to search (by scrolling, very tedious) each command and I saw absolutely nothing regarding a BishopRomanceInactive variable

I did however see my influence with him which was -3

so what do I do now?

Link to comment

I will need to see if there is an rs code for it (rs simply means run script) to activate the talk from the console. On the off chance, try have Bishop left-clicked, like you would do to artificially level a char up, enable your console (While playing, hit ~ to bring up the console. Then type in "DebugMode 1" without the quotes. You may then use the following codes. (Note that all codes are case sensitive and some such as the set (stat) codes require you to select a target when you use them) Once you have finished, don't forget to close the Debugmode by typng in "DebugMode 0" without the quotes.)

rs ga_start_convo("p#lt0019")

I am improvising here, so it might not work, but it's something for you to try. You can also reload your save, position everyone really close to the leader, make sure no spells are running, and then talk to him and hope it fires 'naturally'

I must apologize for my earlier outburst. I was just upset as I still can;t get this to work for me. I honestly don't know what the deal is. I tried the console command and kept coming up with this:

rs

Invalid command ga_start_convo("p#lt0019")

you see, I type up the rs in front of the ga and it shows up like above after I push enter

I tried doing several things, like putting a space before the rs, not putting quotations on the script in parenthesis, etc. Nothing worked. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Also, when doing the console, part of the screen turned a funny color, like patches of the ground were highlighted a dark yellow color.

So I am at a loss here of what else to do. I tried reloading to a point before the battle, went thru battle again, and then same thing happened.
