OK. Spell Shield is now a lv8 spell. I've just found it the .tp2 file. This is not metioned in the readme or the pinned "Arcane Spells" thread.

But if I use "pick for me", Spell Shield will show itself in my wild mage's spell book as a lv5 spell.

I've just got the "Remove Disabled Spells from Spell Selection Screens" installed. Now "Protection from cold" and "Protection from fire" icons are removed from the table, but my wild mage cannot finish choosing spells at this level unless I choose "pick for me". It seems that those 2 spells, as well as Spell Shield, are considered as wild mage school spells.

Is there anyone playing a wild mage?

Where is Spell Shield???
The bit changed Spell Shield is moved to 8th level, the 5th level spell was way too buggy.

Is this a SR bug? If not, maybe my installation of other mods has caused this.
That might be the case...

Well, the way I see it, is that you need to use the PFM button to get into the game and then use ShadowKeeper or other tools to get the right selections if you wish. Of course you can unlearn the spells if you wish...

This all gives me a chill that we need to redo the whole premade spell selection tree.

The moding aspect of this: The best idea I have would be to make it the like it would be in the Level 1 NPCs mod, you can pre-select the spells at install time, which then inserts the table as the splautop.2da to the override folder. It takes a lot of coding though...

Thank you for the reply.

I have just tried the first battle of TOB, with Ascesion and SCS II installed. I tested spells in the battle and have not found any gameplay problems so far. However there might be some potential problems.

Spell-related mods I've installed:

Jog's wild mage mod (wild mage spells only)

This one adds spells to the game. These spells are to be learnt from a book so it should not make changes to the table.

BG2 Tweak Pack - PnP spell progressions

This one modifies the spell progression table.

Unfinished Business

This one introduces a "wraithform" spell.

Ascension

The well-known "Symbol:Slow".

Another question: where is Dimension Door?

Sorry, I don't know how I've been able to forgot to mention it in the readme! As Jarno said vanilla's Spell Shield was 'too buggy', but I may/should be able to re-introduce it and fix it for V4.

Regarding your issue I'm not sure I fully understand. Why have you to select 'pick for me'? Aren't you be able to manually select spells and go ahead?

I didn't flagged those spells as "wild spell", I may guess all spells without a vanilla flag are considered "wild", but I'm not sure about it.

Anyway, I can think about an easier local solution for you, like sending you a version of those spells still flagged as the old ones. As long as you install the "Remove Disabled Spells from Spell Selection Screens" they should work flawlessly. I had to flag them with a 'no school' value because if you don't install "Remove Disabled Spells from Spell Selection Screens" those spells would automatically appear in the character spell selection screen when they shouldn't, and you would even be able to select/use them.

I never had any issue playing Ascension with SR (though I actually never noticed Symbol: Slow :D ), Tweak Pack PnP spell progression table surely don't cause problems too, and even if I don't know how UB technically handles Wraithform (old BG1 scroll filename? new files and names?) I'm almost sure it shouldn't cause issues with SR.

Regarding 'Jog's wild mage mod (wild mage spells only)' instead I really don't know anything about it, and considering what its name suggests I'd guess as Shaitan that your problems stem from this mod because no other SR player ever reported something like "I need to select 'pick for me' or else I'm stuck".

Another question: where is Dimension Door?
If you mean the scroll you can find it at the Temple of Helm (sister Garlena), Temple of Sekolah (Underwater City), Temple of Rillifane, duergard merchants in the underdark, and few other places.

Wait a minute...for some reason the first time I watched this topic I haven't screenshots displayed and didn't fully understand what was going on...

How can you still have Protection from Fire/Cold displayed as selectable 3rd lvl spells with SR installed?! Even without the exe patching they would only appear greyed-out...

Does any other player experienced something like this?
