Guest ScatterSpasm
Me and a friend decided to go through BG1 and the expansionpack tales of the sword coast in multiplayer. But we're uncertain what is compatible with what. We're using two different windows version: I'm on win7, and he's on winXP. Will that cause trouble? We're thinking about using BG:tutu, The BG1 NPC Project , BG1 Tweaks, Baldur's Gate Mini Quests and Encounters and perhaps widescreen mod. Will any of those conflict with each other, or bug up the multiplayer in any way, or can we just install all of it and gogo? Did i miss any essential mods that you think is REQUIRED to get most out of the game? Thanks a lot in advance. I'm amazed at how active this community remains. Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
Every WeiDU mod works in multiplayer, the thing is, you have to have the exact same mods and they need to be installed in the exact same order... It's actually easier to copy the whole game folder from one computer to another, and then edit the new computers game folders baldur.ini file so the [Alias]'ses point to the right directory, and then just start the game from the BGMain2.exe, not from baldur.exe, as you usually do in the normal BG1 game. BG1 + TotSC multiplayer... We're thinking about using BG:tutu, The BG1 NPC Project , BG1 Tweaks, Baldur's Gate Mini Quests and Encounters and perhaps widescreen mod. Did i miss any essential mods that you think is REQUIRED to get most out of the game? Just that you are not actually playing the modified BG1+TotSC in multiplayer, but a moded BG2 game in multiplayer... So instead of BGMain2.exe, you start the game from the BGMain.exe... With Vista and W7, remember to never install the game to the Program Files sub-directories(or in 'Program Files (x84)' sub-folder), cause if you do, you'll never actually be able to edit the files, as the files in the folders are mirrored... so be clever and install the game to the 'C:\Games\' folder. Now, with BG:Tutu, which of them are you going to use? The BG1Tutu, or the EasyTutu... I would suggest that you use the EasyTutu, as it's English only but it's more developed and use the larger install option so it makes it's own game folder(which you'll later copy to the other computer), so you can use the BG2 game as separate entity. Guest ScatterSpasm
Thanks for the quick reply With Vista and W7, remember to never install the game to the Program Files sub-directories, cause if you do, you'll never actually be able to edit the files, as the files in the folders are mirrored... so be clever and install the game to the 'C:\Games\' folder. I already installed it in the program files folder, but not on my windows partition. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "mirrored", is it still a problem when its not on the windows partition? We were planning on using EasyTutu. We're not actually sitting next to each other though, so copying 2-3 GB's to each other would take quite a while. Isn't it possible to simply update the games to the same version, and then install the mods in exactly the same order? Link to comment

I do not know about the W7, but in Vista, the files are only mirrored in the C drive, so you should do fine if it's not in the primary Vista Partition. We were planning on using EasyTutu. Well, if you wish to risk the crashes because they weren't the exact same... you can. Just make sure you make a to-do-list that includes the names of the patches etc. and a copy of the WeiDU.log, that one used to install all the mods, the file is open-able with Notepad... so the other one has easier time of detecting the possible components that weren't installed. Rustrum
Forgot I had a user on the site. ScatterSpasm = Me. Thanks a lot Jarno. We're just going to coordinate our installations and hope for the best. There's just one last thing, then. What mods to play with? EasyTutu and The BG1 NPC Project are in, but what about the fixpacks? When using tutu, should i install the bg1 tweakpack? And could i install the bg2 fixpack/tweakpack? Link to comment

Rustrum
That thread is awesome. Now we both got tutu installed with the exact some settings and mods. But we cannot connect to each other. We're using Hamachi. We were able to connect to each other once, but i had a gfx glitch so i restarted, and not we just cannot connect to each other. It is not a firewall issue, as we've tried disabling it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated Link to comment
Guest Thea
This is going to seem like the strangest thing ever to suggest-- but are you playing in windowed mode? If not, try it instead of fullscreen. Link to comment
Rustrum
This is going to seem like the strangest thing ever to suggest-- but are you playing in windowed mode? If not, try it instead of fullscreen. We haven't tried that, mainly because the people reporting this fix to work, all seem to have a crashing issue when trying to play multiplayer. Our problem is that we simply cannot connect to each other. Now, after 3 hours of googling and feverishly trying everything it still wont work. We've given up, and now we'll just play the game singleplayer instead. Really annoying :/ Link to comment
