BG2 performance on Wine

I'm running BG2:ToB on Wine on Linux Mint.

I have a peculiar problem - the game seems to work normally, but when a character gains an ability, a weapon is placed in a slot, or a character with a different avatar is selected, there is a few second lag.

Most of other, often more modern games don't have such problems.

 

Did anyone have such problems? Does anyone know what causes them?

Yup. General slowdown in load/save/newgame speeds and such with mods installed and tons of files in override. On linux, biffing helps (promise!).

Now I have another problem - the cursor leaves black squares on screen.
