BG2 Fixpack v9 released

Recommended Posts

The BG2 Fixpack has been updated to v9. In summary, this release corrects several typos which were present in the last version, adds and updates a couple of translations and integrates the majority of the bugfixes that were recently discussed on the forum into the Beta Core Fixes component. Here's the full list of changes:

Changes to the Core Fixes component:

  • Corrected a typo in the rndtre05 duplicate entries fix
  • Corrected a typo in the Barkskin fix
  • Corrected a typo which erroneously granted Monks immunity to poison at level 5
  • The fix for the Assassin's Poison Weapon ability has been slightly revised
  • Anomen's proficiency fix has been slightly revised
  • The Mace of Disruption fixes have been recoded in a more robust manner
  • The fixes for knocked down Trolls have been recoded in a more robust manner
  • Deprecated the removal of the second point in Long Sword proficiency from Haer'Dalis at levels 15 and 19
  • Deprecated the "Monks can't use items restricted to Priests" change due to confirmed developer intent
  • Deprecated the restoration of the Guard Captain to the Barracks in the Docks District

New additions to the Beta Core Fixes component:

  • Corrected a minor issue with Mazzy's soundset
  • Ice Trolls no longer lose their coloring upon dying
  • The Twisted Rune entrance in the Bridge District now only consumes a single Rogue Stone when triggered
  • Maheer, the blacksmith in Waukeen's Promenade, now only takes a single diamond/beljuril for upgrading the Horn of Valhalla
  • The main door to Bodhi's lair now becomes unlocked if the player sides with her in Chapter 2
  • Evil hell rewards had some effects with non-zero power levels and bad targeting
  • Corrected mismatching names and tooltips for several creatures
  • Anomen no longer speaks ill of the Order during his banters with Imoen if he hasn't failed his test
  • Assembling the Flail of Ages piece by piece now properly grants an XP reward
  • Yoshimo no longer leaves behind two hearts when slain by a petrification effect
  • Hostile Planetars and Devas will no longer attempt to heal party members
  • Hostile and out of party Minsc and Valygar will no longer attempt to heal party members
  • Jan Jansen now properly receives his bonus spell per level for being a specialist mage
  • Thieves and Bards now properly receive a Dexterity bonus upon drawing the "STAR" card from the Deck of Many Things
  • The Shield spell and the Shield Amulet now properly protect the recipient against TRAP_MAGIC_MISSILE
  • Prismatic Spray was erroneously blinding targets up to level five, rather than seven
  • Pierce Shield now provides feedback when it lowers the target's magic resistance
  • Rectified a couple of instances where creatures had two-handed items equipped alongside shields
  • The merchant who gets assaulted by a thug at the City Gates no longer shares a store with the Brynnlaw storekeeper
  • A potential loop in the Waukeen's Promenade area script has been prevented
  • The Stiletto of Demarchess +2 and the Dart of Stunning now display the appropriate strings upon holding/stunning the target
  • An instance of Jaheira's dialogue will no longer loop endlessly if the player isn't a suitable romance partner for her
  • Killing a couple of unrelated Baatezu in the Marching Mountains will no longer turn Ka'rashur and his cohort in Watcher's Keep hostile
  • Mithral Field Plate Armor +2 and Missile Attraction +2 can no longer be worn together with rings and amulets of protection
  • The Death Spell cast by the Skull of Death no longer requires a saving throw nor does it allow two magic resistance and power level checks
  • Runehammer no longer allows two saving throws for its undead slaying effect
  • Enhanced Bard Song no longer reverts to the default version when a bard character leaves and re-joins the party
  • Non-magical innate abilities (Barbarian Rage, Berserker Enrage, Druidic Shapeshifting...) are no longer affected by Wild Magic and Dead Magic zones
  • The Mirror Image cast by Ilbratha +1 and the Improved Invisibility cast by the Ring of Air Control are now susceptible to spells which remove illusionary protections
  • Item abilities which mimic actual spells now use the school and secondary type values of those spells
  • The map note for the Western Tunnels in the Underdark area is no longer placed over inaccessible terrain
  • Wish: Breach on all enemies in the area no longer affects friendly summoned creatures and cannot turn them hostile
  • Greater Command now uses the same projectile at all levels. In term, this spell no longer affects the caster's allies at lower levels
  • The Reflection shield now properly works against Ice Arrows
  • The Physical Mirror spell now properly works against Bolts of Lightning (crossbow ammo type) and Arrows of Fire (bow ammo type)

General changes:

  • Updated the German and Italian translations. Added the Russian and Japanese translations
  • The Game Text Update component can now be installed in two ways. The first (and recommended) option will install "GTU Light" (by Wisp), a fairly minimalistic dialogue update which contains only the most relevant typographical corrections. The second option will install "GTU Classic" (from Baldurdash, by Kevin Dorner), an in-depth dialogue revision, parts of which may be considered arbitrary by purists
  • The "Giants Receive Penalties When Attacking Halflings, Dwarves, and Gnomes" component no longer creates misindexed files
  • Added alex.cre (Sir Beverus) and drow07.cre (Drow Priestess) to the "Additional Alignment Fixes" component

You might want to hold off installing the Beta Core Fixes component for a bit. Apparently, "The Shield spell and the Shield Amulet now properly protect the recipient against TRAP_MAGIC_MISSILE" code is causing CTDs whenever someone casts the Shield spell. This fix has been recoded and this error has been rectified. Expect v9.01 to be up soon.

We apologize for the trouble.

Hello,

I've got a question: is this version of the fixpack (the v9) compatible with the Tortured Souls mod? Especially with the v7.04 of TS? The readme of the fixpack I found here doesn't mention any incompatibilities with TS, howewer in the TS readme says that it supports the Baldurash-Weidu fixpack:

TSv704.exe is the latest version in WeiDU format, it is compatible with

Neverending Journey Second Edition, Baldur's Gate Trilogy-WeiDU

(BGT-WeiDU), and Baldurdash-WeiDU v1.66.

So, what's the matter then?

Thanks for the hints,

Well, the TSv704 is not actually compatible with the latest version of BGT(-WeiDU v1.09) either, but with a special version of that mod... that's made from the BGTv1.01 or is it the BGTv1.05 with it's own setup-BGT.tp2 file... and then you ask, how come... and the answer still is, the mod maker didn't want to make it because the TS'es evolution didn't end in TSv6.10 .

The TS-BPv6.10 was once converted from the original TSv6.10... it has a lot to do with the projects that were going on then... and not so few harsh words... but please try to not to make it worse!
