SCS installation failure

Hi Demi!

I was unable to install the "Spell tweaks" component of SCS to my Easytutu game. This happens only when I install SR before SCS. I followed the suggested way and installed first SR's main component and then SCS.

After installing "Make Protection from Normal Missiles affect magical projectiles" the installer skips the "More consistent Breach...", "Only Spell Thrust..." and "All the spells that..." as the equivalent component of SR's is installed. Then this:

ERROR: No translation provided for @3352

ERROR: problem parsing TP file [sETUP-SCS.TP2]: Not_found

FATAL ERROR: Not_found

I had with SCS's other components not such problems.

Please can you tell me what is wrong?

An another question: I read somewhere that I need to apply SR's and IR's hotfixes first, and then install these mods. Is this true?

Mmm...judging by the log it doesn't seem an SR-related issue but rather a SCS one, as it looks like it cannot find the string reference @3352 in the selected language. ???

Anyway, what Spell Tweak do you still need to install with SR installed? Unless you want to nerf Inquisitor's Dispel Magic or remove Stonskin's animation all the other tweaks don't need to be installed with SR.

Indeed, you need to apply the hotfixes over the unzipped folders of IR/SR and then install such mods.

Thank you for the quick reply! I wanted to install "Reduce the power of Inquisitors' Dispel Magic" too, but I think I can live without this. But because of this failure the "Make Protection from Normal Missiles affect magical projectiles" component isn't installed (it does not appears in the Weidu log).

Aargh, I have a similar problem with SCSII. I am unable to install the"Smarter mages" component. I choosed the third option ("Mages never casts..."), after a few minutes of installing it repeats itself. The message:

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'

Resource [dw#sprfi.spl] not found in key file:

[./chitin.key]

Stopping installation because of error

Error installing [Mages never cast ...], rolling back to previous state

Will uninstall 659 files for [sCSII/SETUP-SCSII.TP2] component 6152

Uninstalled 659 files for [sCSII/SETUP-SCSII.TP2] component 6152

ERROR: Failure ("resource [dw#sprfi.spl] not found for 'COPY'")

You don't need to install "Make Protection from Normal Missiles affect magical projectiles" with SR, SR's version of such spell already works like that (I even renamed the spell). Anyway, it's better to find out what's happening...

Mmm... I'm pretty sure this was reported ages ago within SCS forums, and I think we solved it back then. I'll look into it asap and let you know.

EDIT:

Indeed, the latter is a compatibility issue I fixed long ago, and if you correctly use the Hotfixes it won't happen.

I found similar posts on SCSII's forum, but nobody offered a solution.

I made a BG Easytutu installation maybe a half year ago but I had no time to play, had no such problems that time. Maybe the newest version of SCS and SCSII is someway "corrupted"?

The issue reported in the first two links, which is the second one you reported, is actually already fixed if you correctly use the hotfixes (as I said in my previous post).

The third link seems about a completely different thing linux-related.

Regarding the SCSI issue instead...

Quite possible it's just a typo in TP2/TRA. SCS2 v13 had similar issue.
Yep that's my first guess too, my only doubt is that "guest" says such issue take place only if SR is installed...else I would have no doubt it's not SR-related.

Thank you, I solved the "Smarter mages" issue with the corrcet applying of the hotfixes.

One more question: During installation of SCSII I wasn't able to install "increased dragon staying power" it repeated itself on and on. I found this topic:

What means this: "So rename @218 with @3375 shoud allow the dragon immunities component to work correctly ? "

Good. ???

It means that if you want to manually fix the typo you should open "setup-scsII.tp2" and rename the second instance of @218 with @3375.

The typo shouldn't affect the installation process though. The second time you're asked if you want to install "Increased dragon staying power" you're actually installing the "dragon immunities" component.

Well, you fisrt need to quit the installer, then...

If you open the specific file with Notepad, and search the "@218" without the quotes, and replace it with "@3375" without the quotes and save the file, it should then let you install the component when you restart the setup-... file.
