Guest Guest_Monster_*
I've never installed a mod before on BG2, and it's a new installation. I installed several options in the tweak pack, and now when I load my saved game I have a few issues. Many items are left with blank names and descriptions. I noticed my scroll case and gem bag have no tooltip or description, and some mundane armor has no description either (medium shield, chain mail). Also, there is about a 1 second delay when switching characters in the inventory screen. Is this something that people have seen, and is it temporary? If it only affects my current inventory it's not a huge deal but if it affects future inventory it's game-breaking, and the 1 second switch in the inventory is going to get aggravating. berelinde
When you install a mod, it is imperative that you close the game and all game utilities like Shadowkeeper. Installing a mod with the game running will result in blank dialogue and item descriptions. You may be alright if you uninstall the mod (with the game closed) and then reinstall the mod (also with the game closed), but you may have to reinstall the game. Everybody does this at one point or another, I think. Link to comment

Also, I forgot to mention another issue: the text was also missing from the screen where you choose to click on "Shadow of Amn" or "Throne of Bhaal". I hope I'm not doomed to reinstall the game. Guest Guest_Monster_*
Also, when installing the tweaks, it got to the last option and didn't do anything after that. I pressed keys but nothing happened. I closed the window with the X. Would that have had anything to do with it? Link to comment

I closed the window with the X. Would that have had anything to do with it? Maybe. It's definitely possible. WeiDU works by opening up dialog.tlk and running through its program, making whatever changes are necessary to install the mod. It has a very specific shutdown routine that closes and locks dialog.tlk properly. When it has finished its shutdown routine, it tells you to press ENTER to exit. Closing down the window prematurely has the potential to corrupt dialog.tlk and many other game files. It's like what happens when you power-off your computer while Windows is updating your operating system, installing patches. If you interrupt it at the wrong point during this process, you can screw up your OS. So... why does it take so long for "Press ENTER to exit" to appear? Some processes take longer to complete than others and your computer resources may be tied up doing something else, like updating your registry or some such. Unfortunately, like the Windows update example, once you have interrupted the shutdown procedure, recovery is pretty much impossible. With Windows, you have to reinstall the OS. With WeiDU modifications to dialog.tlk, you have to reinstall the game. Link to comment
Guest Guest_Monster_*
Give this a read. Thanks! too bad I didn't have this link before I started reinstalling the game... Link to comment
Guest Guest_Monster_*
Well, reinstalling and installing the tweaks again fixed the biggest issue, though there is still a delay when switching inventories. I assume it has something to do with the item tweaks. Oh well. I'm pretty sure exiting the tweak installer before it told me it was finished was the issue. Link to comment
