Esch1lus
I'm going to install the ADpack which is a very good mod, but I need to know how to do a cosmetic change: the lightning effect has been changed and I want to revert it to the original form. How can I do this? How can I edit spells generally? Link to comment
Miloch
In general, by using an editor such as DLTCEP (available on this forum). Then look at the "Extended Effects" tab and animations associated with it, which you should be able to change as you please. Last I heard, ADPack was wholly incorporated ("more or less") into Spell Revisions (also on this forum) but inasmuch as it's one spell-overwriting mod being absorbed by an even larger one, I'm not so sure that's a good thing... Esch1lus
Thanks for the answer. I've already found many guides but most of them were offline or not spell specific. So what's better? Spell Revisions OR ADpack in your opinion? Link to comment

Notice that I removed the read-only feature, changed the animation "New Lightning Bolt" but nothing happens. Also I can't find the original animation, do you know where is it? Link to comment
Demivrgvs
Last I heard, ADPack was wholly incorporated ("more or less") into Spell Revisions (also on this forum) but inasmuch as it's one spell-overwriting mod being absorbed by an even larger one, I'm not so sure that's a good thing...ADPack was the "starting point" of my work yes, but right now I don't know how much of it is left within SR, because later versions added tons of changes, improvements and refinements over it. So what's better? Spell Revisions OR ADpack in your opinion? As far as I remember ADPack was quite good and bug-free. I'm obviously biased, thus I won't say which one is "better", but one thing I can say is that while Spell Revisions is an ongoing supported mod, ADPack isn't. Link to comment
Miloch
So what's better? Spell Revisions OR ADpack in your opinion?Honestly, I don't know since I've played neither. I guess it depends on how much you want your spells messed with - ADpack being a (relatively) minor overhaul, SR being a major one. If you want a mod install guide for Tutu, see the link in my signature. For BG2 or BGT, see the BiG World Project on shsforums.net (start with the .pdf guide or just skip that and go for the semi-automated BiG World Setup program). I did it but when I start the game nothing changes. Notice that I removed the read-only feature, changed the animation "New Lightning Bolt" but nothing happens. Also I can't find the original animation, do you know where is it?Check it again to make sure it actually saved your changes. If you just want to revert to the original, the .spl should be in one of the backup folders of the mod(s) that changed it. Link to comment
Esch1lus
I did not mention before, but I installed Spell Revisions and then I tried to change the lightning bolt effect. I can't understand why it doesn't work though. EDIT: Problem solved. I didn't notice I needed to change the header in order to work. Link to comment
Esch1lus
If I want to import the spell modification to a friend of mine, how can I do it? Should I take the .spl file in his folder? Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
If I want to import the spell modification to a friend of mine, how can I do it? Should I take the .spl file in his folder? Well, you copy your own .spl file(export it with a Near Infinity or DLTCEP ), and you just put it into your friends computer, and then to actually get it into the game, you put it in the games "override" folder... just like all the other mods do, mostly. Avenger
You need to reimport it on your friend's computer. Link to comment
