I would like to invest in a dialogue.tlk

Hello, hello.

I had received a copy of Baldur's Gate I earlier today, as well as these mods.

I began my downloads, but I have not been able to successfully download any of these mods due to:

Would someone be able to guide me to wherever I can retrieve this valuable little piece of file?

Thank you for reading.

That's just bonkers. The "dialog.tlk" is possibly one of the the most important files in your entire installation ;) You are in the correct path? Have you tried launching the game at any time?

Just wait for Jarno or another wizard to pop by...

I've run the game a couple times, and I haven't seen any trouble thus far.

I don't know if this would be of any use information wise, but I did receive my copy from http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/baldurs_gat...e_original_saga .

In the meantime, I did manage to stumble on the dialogue.tlk, but now retrying to download the mods, I'm getting this:

I have downloaded both Tutu, Tutufix, and BGT; however, to my dismay, none of my mod downloads are functioning.

You sound like you might be new to the process of installing mods for IE games. Make sure to check out the readmes for the mods you are interested in using.

1) Do you have a Tutu installation or a BGT installation? BG1NPC wasn't designed for normal BG1 and won't work on it.

Tutu and BGT are conversions that let you play through BG1 using the BG2 engine - you'll need both BG1 and BG2 installed before you can install either conversion. Which one you choose is up to you; the main difference between the two is that a Tutu game ends when you complete BG1+TotSC, while a BGT game continues directly into the plot of BG2 from that point.

2) When installing mods, you have to direct the installer to the folder where your game files reside. If you get an "unable to find dialog.tlk" message, it means the mod was not extracted to your main game folder.

From your second post, it looks like you have moved some of the mod's installation files into the main game folder, but left out the mod folder that contains necessary files.

So having Baldurs Gate 2 is an absolute must in that case, I suppose that would explain part of my issue. (I wasn't entirely sure whether I was reading if it was optional or not, though having BG2 on my computer would make sense.)

And this modding system is more foreign to me than I had expected, so I do apologize if my questions are rather silly.

1) I have both Tutu and BGT downloaded, thought the programs are separated.

2.) As for the downloads, I actually did have them in the same folder as the ToSC set-up and such, though I did have them in their own subfolders, for tracks sake. Do I want to have everything clumped in one folder?

Thank you for your patience so far, I really appreciate it.

Yes, if you wish to use the BG1 NPC Project, you'll need to install either BGT or Tutu, both of which require BG2.

If you decide on using Tutu and you have English copies of the games, EasyTutu is a lot simpler to use than the older Tutu v4. It will copy resources from your BG2 directory to a new directory, leaving your BG2 installation intact and providing you with a new Tutu installation.

If you decide on using BGT, you will need to run it inside your BG2 directory. It will convert your BG2 installation into a BGT installation.

Most mods you download will be self-extracting archives (e.g. bg1npc-v18.exe). When run, they will ask you for the location of your game directory, extract the mod there, then automatically start the command-line mod installer (setup-bg1npc.exe) that asks about installing the various components of the mod. This installer will not work if it's not in a game directory. You have the option of manually extracting the contents of the archive to your game directory using a program like WinRAR, then launching the mod installer at your convenience. The mod installer can also be used to uninstall or reinstall components of a mod.
