Callirgos Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 I'm using Near Infinity, but I will gladly use any tool Is it possible to move spell book icons? I'm trying to rebalance spells in in BGII. I can change spells and create effects all I like... but I can't figure out how to move spells around in the spellbook Is this possible?
lynx Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 spellbooks are empty by default, what would you like to move around? I haven't checked, but the order of known spells is as-you-learn-them for mages and likely alphabetical for priests. If you want to change the general position of the icons, modify guimg.chu. If you want to move known spells around, there's no much you can do to achieve it universally.
Callirgos Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Yes. I'm trying to move a Priest Spell from level 3 to Level 2 in the spellbook. I can change everything about the spell, but I can't figure out how to move it from one page to another for the player.
lynx Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Rename the file to be SPPR2xxx instead of SPPR3xxx.
Callirgos Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Will renaming the file somehow cause bugs with NPC wizards? Or with scripts calling for spells to be cast?
lynx Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Could be, yes. Also modify the level digit in spell.ids: http://iesdp.gibberlings3.net/files/ids/bg2/spell.htm
Callirgos Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Ok - so to avoid problems with scripts and NPC wizards Is it possible to: 1. Duplicate the spell, and place a copy where I want it for the players 2. remove the original spell from the spellbook, without changing its file ID? Is there a flag or setting in the spell file that displays it to the player? - I see I can make a copy, so that is fine - Will using the exclusion flags 1. "hide" the original priest spells from the player 2. NOT disable them from being cast by NPCs who have those spells memorized?
lynx Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 yeah, I don't see a problem with that. NPCs already have spellbooks and as far as I know, only other things are checked so late in the process of spellcasting.
