Can I delete a mod or its sub-folders?

I installed various parts of BG3 Fixpack, SCS II and BG3 Tweak pack. If I decide I don't want to use SCS II or some of the components of the other 2, can I just delete them (or cut and paste outside the game directory) or are the main files in the game overwritten by the mods?

I only went through the game once and that was probably 7 years ago so I think I should do a run through again with just the fixpack and some of the tweakpack. I found the game easy, but then again when I ran into trouble I could look at the spoilers.

If you simply delete the mod folders and other mod-added files in the main game folder, you won't be removing anything from the game. In order to remove a mod, thus restoring the game to the way it was before that mod was added, you must uninstall it (run the installer as usual, choosing the uninstall option). The mod folder has a backup folder somewhere inside it that holds unchanged copies of the files the mod changes, so during the uninstall process, those files will be restored to where they belong, and your game will be ready to go...in theory  I say "in theory" because there are sometimes odd cases where the backed-up files don't get restored as they should, or other strange errors may occur. Only way to find out is to try!

Good luck,

I would only do this if I planned to never, ever change my installation ever. Here is what happens.

A mod in your installation comes out in a new version. It offers improvements. You want to uninstall the mod so that you can install the updated version. So, you run setup-mymod.exe (or setup-mymod.command) and choose ninstall. Now, to uninstall that mod, WeiDU will have to uninstall every mod after it in your installation order. As ericp pointed out, in order to do this, you need those backup folders. Now, once the mod is uninstalled, WeiDU will reinstall every mod after mymod in your installation. Except that it can't because you deleted all the folders.

Deleting mod folders makes it so that you cannot uninstall or reinstall mods. Don't do it.

Oh, wait. That isn't what you are asking. You are asking if changing your installation is as simple as it is in Dragon Age, where all you have to do is delete a folder to uninstall a mod. No, it isn't. You need to run setup-mymod.exe and choose ninstall. You can uninstall only select components if you like. Mymod here is used as a place-holder. The executable file will be something like setup-scsii.exe, setup-scs2.exe, or something like that.
