Fireshield bug

I had never actually been in a situation to use the fireshields against the insect spells until just recently. The problem I'm having is that it can get rid of insects that are already on me if I can manage to cast it, but once the fireshield is up it doesn't remove any subsequent bugs. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but my understanding from the readme is that the fireshield should destroy them.
