Pacek Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Should this component not be a stand-alone mod (or incorporated into standard BGT/tutu), as I would guess many of the fixes become redundant in a mod which kicks NPCs back to lvl1 anyway?
Miloch Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Should this component not be a stand-alone mod (or incorporated into standard BGT/tutu)It is not significant enough to be a standalone mod in itself. Maybe someday someone will convert Dudleyfix to a fully compatible WeiDU/BGT/Tutu mod, but I rather doubt that will happen anytime soon.I would guess many of the fixes become redundant in a mod which kicks NPCs back to lvl1 anyway? Why? Anyhow, this mod doesn't "kick NPCs back to lvl1" excepting that you can choose proficiencies etc. before levelling them back to the contact level. Anyway, you can install this component independently of NPC-modifying components.
Pacek Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 Well first let me say I'm not sure how much of Dudleyfix's changes are incorporated. But wouldn't changes like saving throws, proficiencies, lore, HP etc which are calculated on levelling up become redundant once you mod the NPC to level 1? I guess my criticism is that the average player may miss these fixes because they are packaged in a mod called "level one NPCs". And players of the mod don't need them because they are essentially fixed anyway once you level up. Wouldn't you like the BG gaming community to get full value out of your work? Come to think of it I have had similar thoughts about your Aurora mod: It contains some very good fixes and tweaks, but probably gets overlooked because it's a mod about "shoes and boots" Please take this as contructive criticism, I really appreciate the work you do and love playing your mods, but I wonder if others aren't missing out.

Also, if you didn't change Minsc's class with the mod, just (for example) Jaheira's, then the Minsc fixes are still relevant.I guess my criticism is that the average player may miss these fixes because they are packaged in a mod called "level one NPCs". Come to think of it I have had similar thoughts about your Aurora mod: It contains some very good fixes and tweaks, but probably gets overlooked because it's a mod about "shoes and boots" Well, this was in an even more obscure mod before, which might not have been accessible at all, since Ergopad uploaded it to some adware site IIRC where the upload may have lapsed after a while. So L1NPCs is probably the best place for now (and also probably one of the more popular mods). I was tinkering with a tweak mod I could schlep various tweak mods/components into, but it turned out to be a larger task than I anticipated, so I don't know if I'll have time to finish it ever.
Pacek Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 That's all OK. Thanks for your reply.
