FetusAvenger Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hello. I have just installed the happy patch tweak in hopes to stop Edwin from leaving me in the underdark in bg2. after going through the installation process and loading up my saved game, the problem was not resolved. I am wondering if the tweak will only take effect if I start a new game, or if I could have possibly done something wrong. I have the GoG version of BG2, if that makes a difference. Thanks!
plainab Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 i could be mistaken, but i'm 90% sure that since his scripts & dialog are affected.... that you probably won't see this change unless you start a new game. typically when you've already met, been to, or picked up the affected character, area, or item you won't see the changes unless you start over OR go back to a save just prior to meeting, entering or obtaining the changed object. However, going back to a prior save could cause other issues depending upon what other new mods/components were installed. In my book it is always best to start over after performing any mod changes.

I see... Thanks for the reply. Do you know of any other way that I would be able to stop Edwin from leaving?
berelinde Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Does Edwin leave during the Underdark? I've never heard of him doing that. Might just be that I very rarely play through the whole game with him, but I know that a lot of people do. I'm pretty sure I would have seen it posted somewhere by now.

He's leaving because my reputation is too high. He has left my party before, but I would just reload a previous save and continue on. This worked for a while until now, he will leave my party immediately upon reloading my save.
berelinde Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Ah, could you post you weidu log? The component you need is some flavor of "NPCs don't complain about reputation," but some of the components are similarly worded.

Anomaly Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 It's probably because you installed the mod while at 19 or 20 reputation. At this time, Edwin is already at morale-breaking status, without reading the tables (affected by the Happy Patch) because those tables are read after each reputation change. Try to load your game and do something horrible (like become the Slayer) to change your reputation. Hopefully this will fix Edwin, the tables will be read and the changes will take effect. If this does not work, you might need to use Near Infinity to change manually his variable related to happiness.
