chuft Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I am making some portraits for IWD. The larger versions look fine in game, but the little 38 x 60 8-bit ones look terrible. Actually they look really awful at all resolutions except 1024 x 768 for some reason, at that resolution they are passable, but at any bigger or smaller resolution they look terrible. The portraits that come with the game look fine obviously, I am wondering if there is some trick to making the 38 x 60 8-bit versions. Is there some universal palette they all should be using? I am puzzled why mine look so bad compared to the standard ones. Does it have something to do with them being photos instead of paintings? I am not an artist. Do paintings "shrink" better to 38 x 60? Thanks
chuft Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 I should note I am coming across conflicting information in my research. Some sources say IWD uses the same dimensions as BG1 (38 x 60) but other sources say it uses a different size (36 x 58).
chuft Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Sure enough that was the problem. The IWD dimensions are indeed 36 x 58. A lot of sources out there are wrong (including the IWD Readme, apparently)
