sidewayz24 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 So, I was attempting to put IceWind Dale the original with the HoW and LolT expansions on my Samsung Galaxy S3 but it kept not working. I think it might have been something to do with the widescreen mod not recognizing IWD and it being in 4:3 ratio while my phone is in 16:9. I have the latest version downloaded form the main page, and all the files in my phones directory. Anyways, I would rather get IWD2 on anyways as the new rules look like fun. So, while installing I have come across a few questions. -I am assuming that I should delete the setup-xxxxx.exe files after installing the mods and before putting them into my phones App-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb folder? Also, when installing the widescreen mod, it never asked about GemRB, is this just not in the mod anymore and doesn't matter? -I am using a version of IWD2 that was purchased from the Gamestop Digital Download app. I am pretty sure it is similar in the way the GOG ones are but not 100% on that. Will this be a problem? -My phone displays in 1280x720, it also has a taskbar at the top of the screen, should I account for this when patching the resolution on the game? -After inspecting the files I put into my GemRB directory, I noticed the Override folder has folders for each game, What should be done about these? Anything special? I will post more if something goes wrong, which I am sure will. xD Anyways, thanks for the help in advance.
SyntaxError Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 IWD2 support is rather poor compared to the other games yes you do need to account for the status bar when using widescreen mod. for GOG versions you often need to add something like CD1 = path/to/game/folder/data so that gemrb can find all the data
sidewayz24 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 IWD2 support is rather poor compared to the other games yes you do need to account for the status bar when using widescreen mod. for GOG versions you often need to add something like CD1 = path/to/game/folder/data so that gemrb can find all the data Oh, so IWD2 is not very stable then? Hmm, I guess I will just stick with the original then. How many pixels do you think the typical status bar is? It is about the same size as the iPhone status bar. Also, do I need to do anything about the Override folder that I had to put into my GemRB directory from downloading the latest version online, and not from the store? And do you know why the widescreen mod says taht my IceWind Dale is unsupported? Does the widescreen mod not work for the first IWD and expansions?
lynx Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 nothing extra needs to be done with the overrides. You can leave exe files around, they're just a small waste of space.
sidewayz24 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Ok, since IWD with the expansions do not want to allow me to install the widescreen mod, I am going to just use BG2. I am installing all the mods, and should I install the widescreen mod shorter on the hight aspect to acocunt for the Taskbar? Or just in the cfg file? Thanks.
sidewayz24 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Well, I went with IWD with default res, but I'm editing the GemRB file, and am I supposed to edit both the cfg file and the GemRB.cfg SAMPLE file as well?
lynx Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 a sample is a sample ... and both res' as you've surely read by now.
sidewayz24 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Ok, so after getting on and trying to run it I get an error on the logs after: Initialize Search Path Invalid Path given: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/portaits (Portraits) Invalid Path given: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/CD1/data (CD1/data) Invalid Path given: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/CD1/data (CD4/data) Invalid Path given: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/CD1/data (CD5/data) Invalid Path given: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/CD1/data (CD6/data) My GamePath= looks like this: /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb I have my CD1 in a Data folder, and then CD2 and CD3 are labeled correctly. There are no CD4,5 or 6. Is this where I should go into the SAMPLE file and delete those lines or something? Not really sure what to do here. Also there is no portaits folder in either the GemRB directory or the IceWind Dale directory, so why is it looking for this? Also I get an error for the GUI script: Check if .GUIScripts/CUIClasses.py exists! It does. It started up and held a black screen for about 5 seconds. So far its the closest I have gotten this to work. There is no CD paths in the GemRB CFG file. So I am very confused as you are telling me one thing, but when i open my file that only reads as: GemRB (no.cfg, the file type is CFG) there are like maybe 8 things to change at most. When I open the GemRB.cfg (the file type is SAMPLE) it has all kinds of things to change including CD paths. I looked into a different thread and someone was posting the same file as the SAMPLE file. So, can you please explain what one is to be edited..... Because there is like literally nothing to refer to while installing these games other than search google for other forums and other peoples problems and try to tie them toyour own problems. Too bad I can't find anythig else about what I am having aproblem with. Been spending the last three days trying to get this to work and I am getting pretty annoyed with wasting hour after hour installing and reinstalling and tinkering and retinkering and editing and re-editing, with nothing working.
SyntaxError Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 you are worrying about nothing with the paths. If you dont need them then ignore the errors. clearly you are giving a wrong guiscript path or the path isnt readable by gemrb and it sounds like you are neglecting to change the file extension for "sample" to "cfg"
sidewayz24 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 how do I change the file extension from SAMPLE to CFG? Figured it out, now just working on the strings.
sidewayz24 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 Ok, so now my problem is when I start it up, it says it can not find the following files: data/Progtest.bif data/Progtes2.bif movies/MovEnd.bif movies/MovIntro.bif Also, it keeps telling me that my GUIScripts has either GUIClasses "missing" or GUIDefines. This is based on how I string my GUIScripts path. If I direct it to the GemRB main directory, it tells me GUIClasses is missing. Looks like this: Check if /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/GUIScripts/GUIClasses exists! If I direct it to have the GUIScripts at the the end, it looks like this in the Log: Check if /mnt/sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/GUIScripts/GUIScripts/GUIDefines exists! Not sure what is wrong here, both of the files are in the folders. Almost there, so close. Just for reference I am trying to run BG2 now.
lynx Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Those bifs are irrelevant, don't worry about them. Both *py files are in the same folder. I don't know where they're installed on android, but the config that came with it has the correct path or the demo wouldn't work. On my system the guiscript tree looks like this: $ ls gemrb/GUIScripts/ Actor.py GUIClasses.py GUISTORE.py ie_stats.py LUSpellSelection.py AutodetectCommon.py GUICommon.py GUIWORLD.py include.py Makefile.am bg1/ GUICommonWindows.py ie_action.py InventoryCommon.py maze_defs.py bg2/ GUIDefines.py ie_feats.py iwd/ MetaClasses.py BGCommon.py GUIOPTControls.py ie_modal.py iwd2/ Portrait.py CMakeLists.txt GUIOPT.py ie_restype.py LevelUp.py pst/ CommonTables.py GUIRECCommon.py ie_slots.py LUCommon.py Spellbook.py CommonWindow.py GUIREC.py ie_sounds.py LUProfsSelection.py test/ DualClass.py GUISAVE.py ie_spells.py LUSkillsSelection.py TextScreen.py
sidewayz24 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 they are in the GUIScript folder in the GemRB directory in my phone. Both of them.
sidewayz24 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 My GemRB.cfg looks like this: I edited the files after the "Here be dragons" part after this happened and the same thing happened so I tried to direct it myself. ##################################################### # # # This is the GemRB Configuration file. # # Here are defined some default parameters for # # basic configuration and paths definition. # # # # Parameters are defined as a Name=Value pair # # The Value can be of three types: # # - String # # - Integer # # - Boolean # # # # The String value is represented as follows # # i.e. H:\GemRB\plugins # # Integers are defined as follows # # i.e. 12723 # # Booleans are represented as 1 or 0 in this file # # # # Lines starting with # are ignored # # # ##################################################### ##################################################### # # # Game Type [string] Use one of the following # # values: # # # # auto Attempt to autodetect game type # # # # bg1 Baldur's Gate # # bg2 Baldur's Gate 2 : SoA or ToB # # tob Baldur's Gate 2 : ToB (obsolete) # # iwd IceWind Dale (no How or ToTL installed)# # how IceWind Dale : HoW or ToTL # # iwd2 IceWind Dale 2 # # pst Planescape Torment # # (More will come) # # # ##################################################### GameType=bg2 ##################################################### # Game Name [string] Title for GemRB window, use # # anything you wish, e.g. Baldur's Gate 3: RotFL # ##################################################### GameName=Baldur's Gate 2 ##################################################### # Video Parameters # ##################################################### #NOTE: SCREEN width and height can NOT be ARBITRARY without installing the # widescreen mod: http://www.gibberlin...net/widescreen/ #Resolutions supported by the original games (gemrb) are: # * 640x480 (except in iwd2) # * 800x600 (bg2, iwd:how, iwd2) # * 1024x768 (bg2, iwd:how, iwd2) # * 1280x1024 (bg2, iwd:how, iwd2) #Screen width Width=1280 #Screen height Height=720 #Bits per pixel [integer:16,32] Bpp=32 #Fullscreen [boolean] Fullscreen=1 # Delay before tooltips appear [milliseconds] TooltipDelay=200 ##################################################### # Audio Parameters # ##################################################### # # # All volume options are in percents, with 100 # # being the normal and default volume # # # ##################################################### # Choices: openal (default), sdlaudio (faster, but limited featureset), none #AudioDriver = openal # Volume of ambient sounds #VolumeAmbients = 100 # Volume during movie playback #VolumeMovie = 100 # Volume of background music #VolumeMusic = 100 # Volume of sound effects #VolumeSFX = 100 # Volume of PC or NPC voices #VolumeVoices = 100 ##################################################### # Case Sensitive Filesystem [boolean] # # # # If your installed game files are residing on a # # case sensitive filesystem (ext2 on Linux) then # # you need to set this value to 1, it has no # # effect on Windows # ##################################################### #CaseSensitive=1 ##################################################### # GUI Parameters # ##################################################### # # # GemRB may enhance the GUI of the Infinity Engine # # games (so far only in bg2) creating functionally # # new buttons or scrollbars where they weren't # # present in original games.
