Some minor issues and possible things to look at fixing.

Since BG:EE is quite buggy right now and waiting on potential patches for it soon. I went back to the older version for now. I noticed some possibly missed issues I found while going through the game.

I noticed Montaron is walking at BG2 speed when hes kitted as an Assassin and Khalid as a Fighter/Mage as well walking BG2 speed with that Kit. They dont walk fast without the kit so I think its happening with NPC Kitpack installed. I am using BGT incase that is possibly conflicting the kitpack with BG1 walking speeds installed. Not sure where the problem could be but I hate how they walk faster than all the other members and end up getting ahead of the party possibly getting them into combat when they arent meant for the frontlines how I build them as.

Might be a last minute thing when time is available after BG:EE is patched up to look into and see where its conflicting at for those who dont want to get into BG:EE or dont like the game for their reasons.

Oh this is a minor cosmetic thing I noticed that I like doing with Shadow Keeper. With the Kitpack on, Imoen apparently has a paler skin color (I use 0x0C for her skin color to match her portrait) than everyone elses when shes not pale at all in her portrait. Also her hair should be changed too as it doesnt look pink like her portrait (I use 0x58 for her hair and matches perfectly to her portrait). Its an orangey color. Her banter first arriving at Beregost states the PC character notes she has pink everything ( I use 0x2D as her leather color) on her leather gear and should be coded pink too from what the banter pack adds. I just dont want to keep shadow keeper this all the time. I almost think Imoens wrong hair color was a oversight missed on the vanilla game.

Also a oversight on the Imoen has her BG2 portrait isnt displaying when you meet her before leaving CandleKeep. Its still her BG1 portrait. She also isnt a mage sprite when the make Imoen a mage component is installed in BG1. Her Adventure Kit isnt working too in BG1 but everyone elses is in BG1 when i have BGT installed.

Those are the only minor things I found but might be worth looking into when BG:EE is fully workable and as I said time is available to get to it for those who arent into BG:EE. No point worrying about these now but up to the modder of which issue belongs to which mod who might want to look into these later for something to do. Other than that. havent found anything else with my modded setup being any issue.

I actually have the proper mod install order. even have the list of proper order install saved for future reference but if you want to see my insatll weiDU here it is. List is mostly figured out thanks to Dan Simpson in Gamefaqs as he has the perfect BG walkthrough and mod list on his FAQ. But the mod is working fine for walking speeds on everyone else. I only seen issues so far with Khalid and Montaron having faster walking speeds than what BG1 walking speeds give. Thats the only issue i pretty much have seen.

If everything is working for having everyones proper kit working but Imoens while using BGT its "OBVIOUSLY' the kitpack has a coding issue of not showing Adventurer as it still reads Thief. For everyone else they walk BG1 speeds but Montaron and Khalid not doing BG1 walking speed "OBVIOUSLY" means the BG1 walking speeds isnt functioning right for them./ coding could need to be updated for BGT. I think that might be the problem. NPC Kitpack is "ALWAYS the 2nd last thing to install just before widescreen as it says to be installed way late in the order. So obviously my install order is right as I have no conflicting issues whatsoever except these ones for some reason I cant exactly figure out ???

"NOPE" BG:EE is buggy! No mislead or anything from anyone. All the games bugs and iussues are all over the BG:EE forums. It crashes causing shutdowns of the PC and CTD as well clicking in character record screens exporting causes massive flickering, moving stuff flickers things, sounds not working right, stats not working right, stats not displayed properly etc. Wont go into detail. all my issues on BG:EE are all listed in the forums there so wont need to explain them. Everything is listed on BG:EE site what problems people are having, those are called bugs/issues/glitches. Same thing just 3 different names to call them. No General name to explain them. I used to code to know that. The game isnt picture perfect for everyone. The games loaded with buggy issues needing patches. Rgardless of what people think they are. Theyre still classified as bugs as they are all generalized as one category when coding.Just depends on the person to call it what...

Oh and no need to ask me to open notepad. I know how to find everything. Unless i specifically ask how to no need to waste typing effort lol. Im one of the few who doesnt need advice how to open stuff. I learn from personal experience of figuring things out on my own. Thats how one truly learns in this world :)

I actually have the proper mod install order. ... thanks to Dan Simpson in Gamefaqs as he has the perfect BG walkthrough and mod list on his FAQ.
Well, erhm, the FAQ was made before the BGTv1.15 was released, the FAQ was probably the old BG1&BG2 combined with a few alteration, evident from the Ascension mod, why not try the little more modern BWS. PS, welcome to megamoding.

The PDF file has the proper install order for the 400 mods -instead of the 13 that's actually not entirely correct even- fixes to a lot of small bugs in it's own BWP Fixpack for in the mods themselves and relating to compatibility, and a whole list of notes.

It pretty much was as Dan simpsons old FAQ (last updated a little after Kevin Dorners mysterious dissapearance. Some speculate he may have passed on. god rest his soul if that happened) has the vanilla experience mod list which I pretty much perfer with a few vanilla feel mods like item and spell revisions and NPC Kitpack just to make the game more D&D like but with more useful items spells. But to this day. No one elses walkthrough has ever exceeded his in depth walkthrough of the game. I even perfer it over David Gaiders walkthroughs and every other fan based walkthrough. He has it set up in a very organized and in depth way everyone can easily figure out and read and find what you need.Hes like me. a fan who keeps the game as Vanilla as it possibly can be without making the game seem like something else or no BG feel to it. Even hes against alot of the mods fans made. Some just dont feel BG like at all. No offense to those who made them. I perfer to stay within my Forgotten realm Lore as Dan does too. We just respect that game too much to make improper changes to our baby. Shouldnt force to change something I always say. You are who you are and that game shouldve been treated the same but it was just too good for some to add more to it.

Dont look at the fixes part my good man. those are "FIXES!' Pay attention to the bugs people are posting on the BG:EE forums. Despite what the devs think is a perfect game to them to release wont be perfect for its fans as we all dont use the same system setups and PCs they use. Kinda usually the big issue developers always overlook is testing their stuff on their older equipment to relate to poorer people who cant afford a strong up to date computer and I understand older stuff is pointless to keep around taking up space needed for better equipment. The fixes part of the forums for all we know may not exactly be fixed but from what is knows the fixes are in good working order. With whats been listed from many majority of people having the same exact issues, my personal experience of the freezes, crashes. flickerings, wrongfully misleading stats etc... the games BUGGED! But unlike many, I dont blame Overhaul. Everyone makes mistakes and were only human. Bugs are what makes a Developer smarter and better at what he does. its like an exam. He must put his effort into it and pass with a high mark. One thing I am mad with Overhaul guys is that why they would NOT put their cut content from BG1ub into the game when it was content missing as well as intended original content that was supposed to be part of the game and give us the game it shouldve intended to be. Its an enhanced edition. I think restoring the BG1ub stuff would make the game even more enhanced than before. Dont cut your own work you put time into and just because it may feel unbalancing. Its still BG content. Im sure in every D&D game. Anything is possible to challenge with a strategy and a mindset to stay alive.I say add the content without having to mod it!

No offense to anyone or you too, I will never use BWS or Big Picture or any megamodding crazyness as always just about every modder has or would say...

Those two are usually the ones everyone should stay away from as installing every single mod or even a vast majority of mods the way those programs install them is "VERY" conflicting. Some mod authors mods dont meld well with other mod authors mods as they both possibly dont like one another or they both use different scripting texts to write their mods. Sorry to say but in my opinion mega mods are no no in modding. Not saying no one shouldnt use them. By all means go ahead and use them if those people like megamodding, but personally modding should be done in moderation. Dont go gung ho on needing a mega massive game. I find the vanilla feel mods makes the game alot more fun more challenging and more original game resource based keeping the game true to its name and also limited in a way. I dont like adding pointless quest content or quests that give uncanny unbelieveable rewards or overly powerful NPCs Yes even Kelsey and Keto seem over powered to me despite their popularity. I dont hate them, but no matter what, fan based content just doesnt feel game like. Its for those who wanna make BG a cosplay like game or make a whole new story about it. Im always about game fixing mods more. I like only the original game ones and ones liek altering the spells a bit. Some werent just worth casting in a way. I stick to what modders like CamDawg and Cmorgan Icelius etc do. Stick with a smaller amount of mods and you avoid the risk of conflicting mods to one another just from how they sound. When they work on mods they seem like some modders who play the game like I do and dont massively deck their game out cause how often you gonna use even 75% of the content one puts in right? Thats alot of replays you willneed and usually playing a game over and over again can overload the brain and youll want to do something else for a while. Happens to me the odd time hehe. The more you install the more issues arise and the more major they are and the more resources ingame you got to fight over using. I will never perfer megamodding as it just isnt my way of breaking/altering my game and having conflicts run over the place when my mod setup is very vanilla basic and it doesnt conflict any mods or bring up a single error. I choose to be the smart one and treat my game with respect.

Mind you thats my opinion about those mega mods. This is not to dispute them. There comes a saying. You must know when too much is "TOO MUCH!!!"

You cant keep packing your mule with stuff to carry. You put too much on the mules back to carry. Its going to fall down and you end up in a stressfull situation or you simply break its back from encumberance and you will have to figure out how to carry your merchants haul through the desert or simply leave some of it behind..

Just these minor issues were what I experienced. Minor as they dont conflict or error the game. They just seem like some missed or oversighted work that was missed for a mod that needs proper compatability codes or during an update. I just think something must be outdated on one or theres some faulty coding now due to a version or soemthing. For a while I dealt with them as they are that minor. But lately having to try and stop Khalid/Montaron before running right into a swarm of enemies, is getting kinda tedious and feels like a chore after a while.

If someone wants to use my same install order I have and see for themselves. Be my guest. Not sure if it will do the same for anyone trying. But if someone does run into that issue. Maybe they can figure out whats making Montaron and Khalid still use BG2 walking speeds and why Imoens adventurer kit wont show but everyone else will walk BG1 speed and show their new kits. Its a strange bizzare issue. Must be somehting is not updating right is what I think or one mod is overwriting another due to a newer version. I couldnt tell ya but far as things are aware. That list is100% correct mod order =/

Ha, well, you know... with BWS, you can choose the exact lot of mods you want to install, on mod component bases. And the program gives you advice on what mods work with each others ... you are still in the stone age if you don't know this. Erhm, that came out a little too aggressively... sorry for that, but the "megamoding" has evolved a lot.

Also the mule thing, there is an actual mule mod too ... :p So no longer does the bottomless bag cause stutters nor eat stuff on random bases.

Ouh, and if you want to find out where the fault lies, you can change-log the effected .cre file, or find out that it's not effected by the mentioned mod if that's the case.

That last post was a bit of a wall-o-text, Xezmeraude. The BWS was designed to support megamods, but it is also a more general compatibility and install-order tool that allows you to customize which mods and components you want to install.

~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #4080 // Make Khalid a Fighter-Mage (Domi): v10

~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #4090 // Make Montaron an Assassin (Andyr): v10

These components overwrite the creature files, undoing any previous changes to the characters. They should be installed before the BG Walking Speeds component or any others that modify creatures. (Note these components are part of the BG2 Tweak Pack, not the NPC Kitpack.) To change your current installation, run setup-bg2_tweaks.exe, uninstall the BG Walking Speeds component, quit the installer, and then run it again and install the BG Walking Speeds component. This will move it to the end of your install order.

Lol I am indeed a bit behind on the megamodding as I said before I am not a liker of the mod. I may look into it sometime possibly. But then again I just dont want to have to uninstall everything and reinstall the game again despite how perfectly it runs.

From what you state, possibly some of the mods are just not working right which I think is BGT itself not allowing Imoen to have her Adventurer kit in the first and possibly may be conflicting the walking speeds of the Kits of Khalid and Montaron as when they have their original vanilla class they walk BG1 speed and since I recently started using BGT I never seen these problems before BGT playthroughs. Shadow Keeper lists them having 0 walking speed like everyone else, but its just not the correct speed ingame. May just be BGT has a few minor misses towards the walking speed mod that were thought gotten around or just wasnt exactly coded right. Could be a typo in a code when it got installed when something overwrites another. But since theyre so minor and non game breaking, I may just be able to fix them myself like I do with moving Boo into Minscs inventory since BGT doesnt allow the move of him as it skips it entirely when installing the BG2 Tweakpack. Never really bothered me with boo in the Quick slot. Just made Minsc more maintenance and interesting as a char like edwin loses the amulet slot for his bonus though should in a way be his natural affinity for being a Red Wizard as in P&P states that Red Wizard kit is what gives him the extra spell bonus. But due to the design. They didnt make him that kit. 2 qucik slots is more challenging to manage than 3. Someone should make Boo do something like be like a figurine for Minsc to let out and Boo can bite or stagger soemone like crawl in their equipment to make their hit/cast rolls fail as they are trying to get Boo off them. Interesting idea to look into. Is there some kind of program that can let me open the game files thats up to date but can run on aa XP system and look where the problem could be and fix it myself as my notepad is displaying the bizzare looking translation and I cant ork on it when it doesnt display the file right?

Speaking of that kit. I wonder if we have a mod to put the NPC kitpack kits into the char generator screen lists? I do believe there is a way to. I havent found a mod to do so. My friend always wanted to make a Red Wizard to play as. He always favored Edwin and wishes he could have the extra spell slots. Would be nice to implement the Blackguard too while BG:EE needs maintenance.Would be nice to have these official P&P kits as well but wonder if theres a way to make a scroll bar for the char generation screen for kits exceeding the list somehow? Could even add the 3 new chars too just for kicks. Makes it for a fixed BG:EE like game but not exactly like it. If only the original had a character player sheet like screen as EE does...

Oh and this is just a thought I had too. Feralan seems to me as a druid kit as Faldorn is a shadow druid tribe feralan as her bio states she was raised by wolves when she was young and learned to be like them. Doesnt seem rangery to me though rangers do have an affinity for the forest and animals but not like the way druids are to nature. I even believe feralan is an official druid kit in P&P. Ill have to check that again. May have changed through editions. If Faldorn is a druid and acts like a feralan and is taking over the grove which only druids can govern, feralan seems it was supposed to be in the druid kit list and was oversighted by the overhaul guys when they first worked on the game as bioware before deciding to omit it upon release.

Oh and I dont see how that is a wall of text at all. A wall of text is not paragraphing and just a constant stream of text unable to be read as. Anyone else will agree with me. That came out a little aggressive on your part friend. No need to disregard how long a post is. If you dont want to read it all. You dont have to. But do respect the words people say and how much they say. everyone is different out there and alot are more intellectual to explain such things. But if you find that a wall of text... I find that hard to believe and you didnt take the time to read it all as it states an opinion of mine.

Now im not trying to flame you off. But people in my oipinion who cant take the time to read a book that big, I find them to be very uneducated and they find reading to be very boring and have no interest with keeping up with current events. I am a man of words and I speak my mind. If you cant respect that. Then you shouldnt be worrying too much about reading peoples forum posts and replying to them at all. Thats just my two cents to ya. You may want to think that over friend . Please respect what people post no matter how much they explain it as :)

Now that may just fix the speed issue. I appreciate that. Should the same thing be done for Imoen having her Adventurer Kit show up yet everyone elses shows up just fine as like the walking speeds. Everyone elses works fine cept Khalid and Montarons when installed like I have. Something just tells me there shouldnt be any need of overwriting the speeds. The NPC Kitpack mod should use the BG1 speed to prevent overwritings and such. Kinda like having BG2 Fixpack always be used over Ascension as Ascension will overwrite the fixpack. It was something I learned in my days of coding that everyone should keep things similar and the same. Overwriting is just a hassle and a minor conflictor. I helped alot of modders back in the day learn to keep things similar less to overwrite and dont make coding for mods that already have the same exact coding mod in it. Its just adding that much more pointless data into it.

This can be some advice to use for future modding versions for you modders. One mod has one code of what you are modding and/or if a mod is already in another. Dont bother making that mod agian in another. Save the hassle of how many mods to install and it lessens the number allowing less conflicts to come up. Think of it like Ascension and BG2UB has the Restore Bhaalspawn codes. But then again its for the purpose if you dont want both installed. If one is detected, the other should allow it to skip automatically as most mods do. It can most definitely be considered an Oversight left out as not every modder has the time and resources to keep certain mods up to date an version like other mods. Its just an opinion. Many things can be looked into and feededback by the right people who really dig deep in research and the odd time like me spread the word. What can I say. I am a Lurker after all lol. I dont really talk much unless something piques my interest :)

I did read all of these posts, but I found it difficult and I think you would have more success getting your questions answered if readers could pick them out with a minimum of effort.

As I mentioned before, the components affecting Khalid and Montaron are part of the BG2 Tweak Pack and not the NPC Kitpack. It is unfortunate that they overwrite instead of patch, but they have been around for a long time. Patching is much harder than overwriting in this case, but we can thank Nythrun for writing Level 1 NPCs, which you can use to select the class and kit of any NPC and have it patch things nicely.

You can use NearInfinity (latest updates summarized here or direct downloads here) or DLTCEP to edit Infinity Engine game files.

It is possible to make the kits from NPC Kitpack appear on the character select screen. You just have to change 1 value in the installer for each kit. If you're interested in doing this yourself, check out the ADD_KIT code in the npckit.tp2 file and compare it to the kit creation tutorial here - specifically look for the commented line "PC races and classes allowed to use this kit, from KITTABLE.2da".

Well I did try moving the BG1 walking speeds to the end of the install. Still has Montaron and Khalid moving in BG2 speed. I definitely believe its BGT making something conflict with it. I even tried a whole new clean install with NPC Kitpack before the tweaks still same thing. Guess ill have to change the files myself to make them work as theyre intended to. Seems it must be the walking speed mod or simply BGT is conflicting some parts of the mod as it still doing with the adventurer kit and imoen looking like a mage in the BG1 part of the game which also is where the walking issues seem to only happen in. definitely is BGT making these not work properly for certain chars and kits. Must be the hardcode in BGT. Ill try the nearinfinity and look into it. Thanks for trying to help though. Was worth a shot. This may be an idea to look into for anyone who wants to fix it too.

Guess I wont be fixing it. Dont have Java on my XP running lower spec laptop. didnt come with one. Looks to be someone will have to make a workaround for this if possible or wants to when time is available. Might be a rare issue for some people. Might not happen for everyone. least it was found and brought up for further notice.

I found out where the issue was and found out it was loctaed within the BG2 Tweak pack. From what it looks like since the tweak pack both houses the BG1 walking speed and Change Montaron to an Assassin and Khalid to a Fighter/Mage components, what it looks like is when installing those components, the kit changes seem to overwrite over the installed walking speed part of it rather than just installing over it. Seems the kit change components dont check if the walking speeds were installed after changing thier kits but instead overwrite it. It was obviously an oversight missed out that may need to be corrected so that when using the tweak pack, the kits wont overwrite and will check for the walking speeds is already installed and wont look to change it on them. I hope this clears up any conflict between the two components when installed as I listed above.
